[QUESTION] Hacking

Was just doing a bit of simple investigation and figured I shouldask this before I go further: How far can one really go with this?

The whole hacking theme is quite prevalent, hence, what do you all think the reaction might be to port/vulnerability scanning, brute forcing, etc. on the various servers?

Although the hacking theme is extremely prominent in the Matrix, it is highly forbidden in ARG's..

While the people behind the game cannot directly tell the players what not to do, they throw hints around such as the now updated UHS policy which states that any hacking activity is forbidden--that's a message to the players..

Finding the "carelessly" files required brute forcing. Perhaps there was another way, but the PM's allowed it probably because it didn't consume that much bandwidth... On the other hand, the FTP sites were completly shut down as soon as a vulnarability was discovered, meaning they changed their plans completely to make a point..

So I guess the final answer is "it depends" .. but it's really preferred to stay away from it.
