Yeah, I had just sort of assumed that the most they might do was a print on demand sort of thing, where we could order copies at cost (this service is available online now) not an actual print run!

If its printed in PC only, in-game, then there is no real need for editing, coherence, or anything else much beyond the word count.

On the other hand if its really printed on earth then all those things may apply, but we have been told rather late!

As a note, I sent of the license agreement and got a standard automated reply about where to send submissions, hopefully it will still be read Smile

May I remind you that This Is Not A Game. If it's published in Perplex City only, it still has to be good.

We do not intend to sell any books on Earth, and regret that we cannot offer Earth authors any payment for their work. However, we have teamed up with Mind Candy to offer all accepted Earth contributors a free print copy of their submissions.

If you are interested in submitting a manuscript, please contact Ellen Moriyama at emoriyamaSPLATseaside-press.com

Violey Kiteway needs to be regsitered as an author to get credentials to look at a diary. Thus the need for a book. Although this kind of overlooks the obvious flaw in this plan. If Violet doesn't contribute to any of the stories then how can she claim joint authorship?? Wink

I think Violet is looking at being credited with editorship:

Quote:
I think that Seaside Press are looking for books on Earth, so I could be the editor, you could all be the contributors. I reckon if we get going, we should be able to produce a book really quickly, and even get it printed!

There's still time to submit something. We (sledgecallier and I; the editors) just need it by Friday. Either in the wiki or sent to the tales.from.earth gmail account.

So, since we are getting a print copy, do we have to submit our addresses to seaside-press?

We haven't heard anything about needing mailing addresses.

*stumbles in panting*
Done... editing... code... in... my story...
*collapses*

I wonder if I could stretch this into a lucrative full-book deal?
I'll see with Moriyama if it turns out she thinks it'd go over well.
After the anthology is printed, of course. Wink

Because there's NOTHING like being a celebrity in an alternate universe. Very Happy

Gaspar - can you ensure you fill out the Creative Commons agreement and also submit a biog on the wiki? (If you haven't already.)

That goes for anyone who's entered a story or article.

I have had the following from Ellen at Seaside regarding the collaborative story:

Quote:
Regarding the collaborative story, we would still prefer to get emails from each contributor. If not, then we need the editor/compiler (i.e. you) to grant the licence - and ensure that you are able to grant that licence - when the work is submitted.

Scott, as you are editing the collaborative story (poor fool) then can you draw up a list of contributers and either ensure they are sending in their license agreement or are happy for you to send it in on their behalf as editor of the piece.

Finally for now, oliverkeers13 has offered himself up as sacrificial mole to see if we can get into the ranks of 3P. He has submitted a short message that we can slip into the book somewhere. The text can be seen at http://wiki.incognitus.net/ppc/index.php/Tales_From_Earth:No_title

If anyone has any objections to this stratagy then please let us know ASAP before we throw young Ollie to the wolves. Very Happy

Thanks guys.

To V and C. I know who you are. I know what you are doing. You are playing a game with us. This is not a trivial matter. I could inform the authorities as to your identity this minute, but where would the fun be in that? I'm playing for the wrong side. I want to switch allegiances, to yours. Contact me at this address, My First's a hole, big and round My second's straight, long, and narrow You see through my third My fourth's one of your codenames My fifth is a drug, here on earth My sixth is a pirate's call My seventh is Monica Grand's codename My eigth and ninth are the same as my fifth My tenth is the same as my sixth My eleventh is a snake My twelfth and thirteenth are the shift of this code My fourteenth is a splat My fifteenth is a house, chimney and all My sixteenth is the same as my first My seventeenth is a hot drink on earth My eighteenth is twinned arches My nineteenth is second in last My twentieth is my third My twenty-first is my second My Twenty-Second is a point My twenty third is Helena Frye's codename My twenty fourth is my first My twenty-fifth is the twinned arches You will see what skills I have to offer. O

Unbiased, entirely logical, unemotive thoughts:

ROT-13? Is this supposed to be an ironic joke, ROT-13 is not a cryptographic medium that will deceive anyone, least of all the entire puzzle solving conehead community in Perplex City.

"My twenty third is Helena Frye's codename" - is it? I'm sorry if I've missed it, but I believed the only information we had about "C" was that she was female and "C" might be the first letter of her surname, which would lead me to think that she was in fact, not C.

Also, any cipher is intended to conceal information in such a way as to make it difficult to "crack". Once anyone has worked out the encryption methodology, giving them things like "My nineteenth is second in last My twentieth is my third My twenty-first is my second" simply defeats the object of having this secondary layer of "code" in the message.

Secret societies don't generally subscribe to the "Do ya wanna be in my gang? (My gang, my gang)" recruitment process.

Note: End of "unbiased and emotive".

Biased and emotive thoughts:

A community is not about one player.

Dislike it.

Again, communities consist of more than one player pushing himself forward yelling "Me! Me! Pick me! I'm special!"

Did I mention that I really dislike the idea?

J

P.S. I shall now await incoming flames from the fan club. T-Minus 5 to impact.... Wink

Come on Juxta, it's not like they'll actually be fooled, why not just sit back, whatch oli make a fool out of himself and laugh, if anyone's going to get back at the third power, then it has to be just one person anyway, I doubt we'd have much of a chance if we all offered up our services. It's up to oli whether he wants to get hunted down and exterminated. Laughing
