There's going to be a pretty big influx of n00bs because of Firebox's Christmas advertising, and we can't really be expected to know everything from the start, can we?

BTW - and totally off topic - Has anyone considered that the top players on the leaderboard are the ones that can afford to buy more cards?
Just like the Premiership, eh?

Not necessarily - i have a full set of the cards released so far but choose not to scratch them as they look nice as they are.....

Whilst the cards do have a cost implication inherent in them, you'll find that it's eminently possible to make up many of the gaps in your collection by trading them - PerplexCity Trades is a great resource for this, and overnight crested the 500 member mark (good work Skenmy and Buzman!)

I bet you handle them with white gloves too.
Scratching is a risky business...I find there are good scratchers (which come off cleanly) and bad scratchers which end up in a terrible state. I thought it might be due to what I use to scratch, but have tried a few things and it seems to be a property of the card (perhaps the colour of the background?)

And, of course e-bay, which IMHO is quicker and safer than trading (although I am sure there are conflicting opinions within the community with the ethicality of it). I just bought a pile of cards at the beginning, sorted out the spares, sold them and used the money from those to buy the ones I needed back. In the process, I acually pretty much covered the cost of buying most of the cards in the first place.
But obviously, there is money involved, the cards are bought for money, and anyone who buys more packs is going to get more cards. Simple. Unfortunately that's the way the world works. When I was little (last year), I used to collect all sorts of things (sticker books, collectible models, magic cards etc...) and it always used to annoy me that I could never afford to get those last few. Now, I'm in a position financially where I can afford to get a whole set of cards quickly. It's the same with the live events, I would have never been able to just nip down to London from Blackpool for the weekend to go on a bonkers treasure hunt for the day when I was at Uni, but now I can. But, as we are all aware, no one needs to collect the cards to play perplex city and search for the cube, in fact some of the biggest contributors to the game aren't at the top of the leaderboard!
Wait a sec... what was this thread about... a new site... did we wander a tad of topic

I just use my scarily huge thumb nail for it, but I always make sure it's filed to perfection first, has worked flawlessly so far.

Is it just me or do the cards (or the foil) give of a slightly strange smell when you scratch off the silver tab?
Just me then?
