[META] Bungie required time travel.

From the LCP final PM chat

Interesting that Bungie actually required this of 42. There was some limited time travel introduced into the Halo story in the 3rd book of the series, and now this. Suppose Bungie is trying to prep those seriously following the Halo story for some more serious time travel implications?

Yeah, that stuck in my head, too. Smile

However, if I had to hazard a guess, I'd speculate that the simpler explanation is that obviously part of the game had to be set in the present so that we could interact with it (I don't think 4orty2wo would want to just repeat what they did with the Beast), and Bungie most likely insisted that part of it be set in the same time period as Halo, so that it could lead up to it.

So, you'd have to have some sort of time travel just to connect them.

keeping fingers crossed (I think), for time travel. At least, in the sense that Bungie wanted to make sure the ILB plot followed a preset line that would still make sense with Halo 3... as opposed to them just being picky. But it was definitely a good plan to have a real time component to the arg mixed with the future timeline... made it that much more real for us

Shocked Check out the official Bungie back story for the spartan in Dead or Alive 4! Looks like more of the ILB story! I mean, Apocolypso crashes and creates a slipstream rift that leads to the past? Isn't that what happened in ILB??

Well, if Bungies sticking to their Marathon origins look forward to a crazy, convoluted, brain-killing puzzle of a story. Heres hoping.

This forum is still a trout-free zone, right?
