[UPDATE] [DEC 19] Gateway index http://vaporlofts.com/gateway/
The page is now black with red print reading
Quote:
Subject: SchrAE(7044969)
POSITIVE MATCH
SchrAE...why AE? AnnE? And the number, significant or not?
Did they scan her in Atlanta?
There's more in the source:
.--. .-. . ...- .. --- ..- ... / .. -. -.. . -..- / -- --- ...- . -.. / - --- / --. .- - . .-- .- -.-- / .. -. -.. . -..- / -... / ..--.. / .... - -- .-..
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Feels silly to spoiler it, but it says:
PREVIOUS INDEX MOVED TO GATEWAY INDEX B ? HTML
Hm. indexb.html, does not work and anyway...why is there a question mark and then it says HTML?
The link refers to Anne's journal, by the way. Nothing new.

AE would be Anne Elise (as her website says), which is also where she derives "Annie" from.
So... I'm guessing 7044969 is her ID number of sorts.
Wow though. A positive match, I'm guessing Annie's going to become all schizo from now on.
http://www.vaporlofts.com/gateway/index_b.html is where we find the old index.

Also, notice that said number is linking to her LiveJournal?

That's because 7044969 is the registration ID number on Anne's LiveJournal. Check her userinfo.

OMG does this mean that Vapor Inc and SixApart (the owner of LiveJournal) are in cahoots?!

A grand conspiracy!
Actually, I'm wondering if this means VaporLofts has discovered the LJ (obviously, since it's on their site). And what kind of consequences would that have?

I feel like e-mailing her and telling her about it. And then saying "Send the story to us personally, don't post it on your LiveJournal!"
And then I realized that Parrish has been reading her journal all along.
So they already knew about it.

Obviously they read her LJ, since Parrish has commented on her LJ multiple times.
And . . . you know, one of the fascinating things about VL, to me, as I read up on the history/development/ process of ARGs, is how it seems designed to adapt to the random number-generation of the internet - how the enty numbers line up with some of the Vapor Inc files, and now how they're using the LJ numerical ID as Anne's subject ID.
I dunno, there's a certain amount of thought that went into their planning for these random eventualities that really appeals to me.
So I dunno if the PMs skim this forum at all (probably they do), but if they do, cheers to you all for making this game so interesting, especially as an introduction into the world of ARGs for newbies like myself, Shaggy, Geekkake, and Weatherly. (Oh, Happy Holidays and New Year, too.)

Hells yes, Ghostmeta, I double your cheers... they're the REAL Icebreakers here!
And they make awesome MP3 files, too.
Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled ARG...

New Gateway index is gone, old one is back. index_b.html is still present and appears identical. I don't know the old Gateway index well enough to say whether or not anything's changed on it.

I'm still getting the new index, not the old one.

I am still getting the new page at http://vaporlofts.com/gateway
@Geekkake: Are you sure you're not looking at a cached version on your computer? I've refreshed several times and I still get the new version.

I was afraid to check the site, myself, since Rowan said she couldn't see it either, in case it wiped my cache. But after Caspian said he still got the new page, I checked it out . . . and I still get the new page, too.
It might be cache buildup.
