[PUZZLE] Progress report for Bronco

Well, Seth's back. He wants us to write a fake progress report for him to give to Bronco with 'evidence' that Steven is responsible for his own dissappearance. It's all explained in his Blog.

Quote:
Moving Forward
I'm back from my meeting with Bronco. I had to promise him that I would send him regular progress reports on the investigation. I'm going to need help to pull this off.

We need to make Bronco feel at ease about this investigation. At this point Bronco is still a suspect on my list, so I don't want him to feel threatened in any way. I'm on his space station and he could easily make this investigation much harder for me. I thought that perhaps you could help me in writing a fake progress report to send to Bronco. The report should contain evidence that supports the theory that Steven is himself responsible for his own disappearance. I can help you with some of the details if you need it. We'll have to make this theory look believable if we want Bronco to believe it. Let me know if you can help.

As for the Anemone puzzle, I just found Steven's copy of Fountains of Paradise. I'm going to start reading through it to see if I figure out where we're supposed to go next with this puzzle.

Now, before we jump all over this... are we sure thats actually Seth, and not say .. Bronco using us? I'm pretty sure but it bears thinking about.

For the task itself, I suggest we all post ideas of evidence here and toss ideas around, then once we get it into a finalized form, Mapmaker - who wants to be point - will send it to Seth IF AND ONLY IF we all still think its a good idea. I'd say we should aim to have this done Monday evening.

I've emailed Seth and asked him for an idea of what he'd like to see to give us a frame to work from and for the details he can provide... partially because we'll need them and partially because it'll help me know if its really him, I think.

EDIT: I also asked him what his deadline is in my email

We should try and get as detailed a brief as possible from Seth:
We need a deadline. Also it would be kinda nice to know what he includes in his final progress report!

Also, is anyone else *slightly* wary of going out of our way to incriminate Steven? Shocked

Look Out.

Disclaimer: I may seem paranoid after reading this post. I certainly hope that that is not your impression of me. This post is approx. 75% devil's advocate and 25% real thought. So, on to the Devil's Advocate.

We need to be extremely wary of what we let loose to Seth. All is not as it seems. I am incredibly wary of what Bronco might actually have up his sleeves, because if he gets one whiff of what we actually believe, he may have no scruples as to going after Cordelia and/or Stevie. This would be a bad "endgame" scenario, because it would necesetate getting Stevie and/or Cordelia back. In other words, We don't know what bronco's capable of, and if he feels it is necessary to use Steven's family as leverage, he will not be afraid to do so.

Possible Endgame Scenarios:
1.We find Steven, Bronco's actually innocent, Steven just randomly dissapeared.
2.We find Steven, Bronco's brought to justice, and all is well.
3.We find Steven dead, Bronco's innocent, and something else happened.
4.We find Steven dead, Bronco's brought to justice, and all is well.
5.Station goes bye-bye.
6.Bronco kills Cordelia and Stevie.
7.We take out Bronco.
8.Davi captures Stevie.

More to come...

<devilsadvocate>From a tactical standpoint, i'd say the best thing to do is to get Bronco into our hands. get him to talk. If there is any sign of anyone doing anything wrong on the station, especially toward the mae family, they are assassinated. We get steven back.</devilsadvocate>
Possible Collateral: innocents killed. Mae family killed. Steven Killed.

<reality>Get the report to bronco. lace it with facts, but don't give him any evidence as to what he doesn't want to hear. Find steven. </reality>

Finally, A bad scenario: Full disclosure to bronco.
Damages: retribution, or help. he seems to go one way or another. we really don't know what to think of Bronco at the moment.

Sherlock_Holmes, signing off.

Maybe we could do some simpler things - like saying certain clothes or things were missing as if Steven had taken them with him, so that it looks like Steven was planning a short trip. And then he disappeared while on the trip? Maybe a bit of money that they kept around the house for emergencies is gone?

Things like that the Igor couldn't really verify and that don't show any indication that the trail exists.

I think Rose is right on the money. A few facts like that to indicate Steven may have left of his own accord.. combined with actual facts from Seth's Investigation Journal (NOT included the puzzle trail), will be what we need.

Wow, I'm impressed, you even coded the whole report to almost-Latin to keep it secure from outsiders, sweet! Wink

I'm with Rose's take on what should be in the report, using facts to hint to a voluntary leave by Steven and keeping the rest as superficial as possible...

Some of the stuff from Seth's journal we could include in the report (real facts, fake facts, and theories):

1) Steven was last seen on November 30

2) Date of Elevator departing Wasile that coincides with the day before Steven's dissappearance. (December 1st)

2) Date of its arrival at ground station (December 5th)

3) There is a chance that the elevator cargo area could have oxygen on it link (first paragraph)

4a) Theory: Steven could have bribed or otherwise convinced the Captain of the New Dawn to not 'discover' him when unloading at Ground Station- this would be noted as a theory and Seth would say that he's still investigating that possibility. Same link as above

4b) Theory: Steven could have used a disguise to get off the elevator at Groudn Station - False Evidence: Perhaps a maitenence uniform is missing from the station (can be reported and easily simulated)

5)
Quote:
the last time Steven was seen was almost 2 hours before the elevator arrived. No one seems to have noticed anything unusual that day whatsoever
This fact should definatly be included, its true but doesnt give anything away. linky

6) The stuff Rose mentioned - missing clothing, money

7) Seth has mentioned several times interviews he's conducted in his journal. We should report that those intervierws occured, but of course, bore little to no fruit (which is again true, they did not) but they do show that Seth has been doing stuff. (Ie We mention that both Dr. Bronco himself and Martha Crappert have been interviewed but knew nothing)

Looks beautiful, Mapmaker! Unless anyone objects, I'll send this off to Seth for his approval.

And it's off!
