I did that as well and I got "Jody" AND "tiny" by rotting and anagramming GLAV, but none of them worked, of course. Laughing

Out of shear desperation I tried counting the number of letters in each planet... then converted those to letters.

I also tried two different forms of adding the numbers.. one where I added each pair of numbers then another where I added each number to the one preceeding and following it.

Code:
7 5 7 6 5 4 9 7 10 5 8 8 2 7 3 6 8 8 6 7 8 5
G E G F E D I G J  E H H B G C F H H F G H E

12 13 9 16 15 16 9 9 16 13 13
L  M  I P  O   P I I  P  M  M

12 12 11 9 13 17 15 12 16 10 9 10 9 14 16 14 13 15 13
L  L  K  I  M  Q O  L   P  J I  J I  N  P  N  M  O  M

Of course it gives nothing at all.. but.. meh. I'm running out of ideas. Now I did this in the order of 'appearance' mentioned on page 13, so maybe if the order was changed... or if the TOTAL letters for each planet..but THAT doesnt work because Uranus would have mor ethat 27 letters...

More sheer desperation, here.

First image is an attempt to see if there is any kind of pattern in the locations of the dots on the images. I drew "crosshairs" for each one out to the edge of the image. There's a lot of "Oh, almost" stuff in there.

Second one is an attempt to simplify the image by removing the "picture" elements while trying to preserve the starfield as much as possible. This was in hopes of finding the region in space where the starfield exists. I couldn't match it to anything, but offer this in the hope that it will help someone else. It does appear to be a non-"tiled" image, so it may be a real representation of a portion of the night sky (Or it could be someone's photoshop creation, complete with Messiers.).

KISS Wink my initial "connect the dots to make letters" assumption was correct Very Happy

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Grouping them by planet and connecting the dots gives: L (Jupiter), A (Saturn), E (lowercase "e" for Uranus) and V (Neptune).

Anagramming the letters gives VELA, a constellation representing the sails of the Argo Navis, the ship of Jason and the Argonauts.

emailing velaSPLATmaefamily.info gives the following reply:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Soon after I announced to the NASA heads that I had discovered what had truly happened to the asteroid and that within days it would enter the earth's orbit. I polished Bronco's plans until they gleamed so brightly hardly anyone could object. I countered any misgivings with benefits and wonderous talk of the future. I unveiled the plans for the now already partially constructed space elevator and space station. I boasted about the giant solar panels that would be built in the future and how they would give affordable power to all of the earth and avoid the oil shortage crisis.

Thanks,

Steven

@Dionysus: I think you meant your answers for #7 and #8 to be for #6 and #7, respectively. In other words, you're off by one for those two.

So here's my answer list (green = certain, blue = probable, red = ???):

#1 - D. Fossil Fuel (currently burn oil, working on solar. See email here)
#2 - B. 0.3g
#3 - A. Dr. Martha Crappert

#4 - C. Optical Disks (D is a possibility with all the new tech up there)
#5 - ???
#6 - ???
(A is unlikely, a CEO is usually not a guinea pig)
#7 - D. Meta-physics
#8 - B. New Dawn
#9 - C. Carbon nano-fibres

#10 - ???

So it seems we have three answers to discover and three one to confirm. I'm fairly certain #7 and #9 are correct, but cannot find proof so I'm still leaving them in the 'probable' category. EDIT: Moved #7 & #9 to 'certain' category.

With regards to the chalkboard image, at first I thought it was a grid to be used in encoding/decoding cipher text. However, the rows are not of equal length:

ABCDEFGHI - 9
JKLMNOPQ - 8
RSTUVWX - 7
YZ01234 - 7
56789!?"- 9

Caspian, good catch on #1 I missed that.

I read that as stepping foot on the completed and fully functional station. Engineers who built and activated the systems not included. But I am not sure after all, so you may well be right..

Let's mark that green shall we? If you go HERE you'll find that info

caspian_x wrote:

#7 - D. Meta-physics

This should ALSO be green.
A) Process of Elimination
Space Exploration? I think so!
Robotics? See the Steven Chat Log mention of SAIPets' presence
Medicine? Orbicon's tech page and Cordy's presence on the station

B) Metaphysics, as grumpyboy pointed out, is the philosophical stufy of being an knowing.. why the heck would THAT be done on a station?

So now we have

#1 - D. Fossil Fuel (currently burn oil, working on solar. See email here)
#2 - B. 0.3g
#3 - A. Dr. Martha Crappert

#4 - C. Optical Disks (D is a possibility with all the new tech up there)
#5 - ???
#6 - ???
(A is unlikely, a CEO is usually not a guinea pig)
#7 - D. Meta-physics
#8 - B. New Dawn
#9 - C. Carbon nano-fibres
#10 - ???
BONUS - ???

I think in one of the newsletters' "Did you Know?" section, it's mentioned that a woman was the first to set foot on the station. Going back to check now...
[EDIT] Yep, newsletter 3 says it was a woman, but doesn't say her name. That eliminates some possiblilities...can we use our lifeline now? Laughing

The website says to email infoSPLATorbiconcorp.com for general questions regarding the station. I sent an email but got an immediate auto-reply saying:

Thank you for your interest in Orbicon Corporation.

Currently, our email system is not fully operational. In the meantime, please check our website for exciting new updates. Big things are in store here at Orbicon!

So much for that route. Didn't think it'd be that easy anyway. Wink

Good memory 2wicked! That narrows down #6 to B. Dr. Tabellae Foro or C. Miss Rose Mantling. I can't find the name Tabellae to determine whether it is masculine or feminine.

Nice job , 2wicked

So for Question #6 we can eliminate A and D

This leaves us with

B) Dr Tabellae Fora

Now, tabellae is latin for "document" If my memory serves it is an effeminate as the ending -ae is used for the female. However, a google search for Tabellae does not yeild it used as the name of a person ONCE in the 8 pages of returns of gone through thus far. This makes me feel, while it is a possibility, it is rather unlikely.

C) Miss Rose Mantling

A female name. No reason to doubt it.

Of course we cant be sure. As a result, I say we can go with C, but make it blue only.

#1 - D. Fossil Fuel (currently burn oil, working on solar. See email here)
#2 - B. 0.3g
#3 - A. Dr. Martha Crappert

#4 - C. Optical Disks (D is a possibility with all the new tech up there)
#5 - ???
#6 - C. Mjss Rose Mantling
#7 - D. Meta-physics
#8 - B. New Dawn
#9 - C. Carbon nano-fibres
#10 - ???
BONUS - ???

Question: where did you find the answer for #2? Just curious Smile

My vote for #5 is Pericles (answer D) as he was the 'creator' of the first democracy

And my guess is that bonus question will give us the adress we have to email, and that we'll get it with the other answers Smile
