[METHARGO][TRAILHEAD] Methargo

Scanning Technorati ARG stuff, i noticed a link to something odd:

Follow Behind Me, Please

Seems to be a blog with some mystery, and even some morse code to decipher. I only mention this as googling Methargo returns zero hits, so nobody's really found this yet.

For what it's worth. Smile

Steve Steve Steve come on, it clearly says "DO NOT TALK ABOUT THIS TO ANYONE". See what you did, now it's going to get talked about and things will be compromised. Cool

Yes! Finally I'm in on the ground floor of a new ARG! Thank you, Steve.

Anyway, I've got a rough translation of the morse coded paper:

THROUGH/ WIND,/ SUN,/ SNOW,/ BRINGING/ HOPE/ AND/ POWER,/ EIGHTEEN/ LOVERS

"Through wind, sun, snow, bringing hope and power, eighteen lovers."

Now, as to what the hell this means, that will require some more research.

I have no clue as to what "Embedding prices" means, or what the last word in that line to Ridley is. Sorry.

I am currently participating in this ARG. I have made contact and received a photo from the captor. Also, as far as I know, the morse code has no meaning yet.

The Ridley mentioned in the morse-code letter is apperently our mr. Ridley york mentioned in the other letter.

The rest of it, including the blog itself throws more questions than answers.

Trief googling with the solution of the morse-code (thought it was a line of a song or poem), but nothing came up.

Ok quick thought while we wait on the pic. 18 is a word from the morse code right? So what letter(s) would 18 reperesent in the number code, maybe a conection. Ad that to the 1 in the first pic.

But don't forget that it's part of another phrase, "18 lovers". Perhaps it has something to do with a famous lover of legend (i.e. Cassanova, Don Juan, Valentino)

Anything about the latest post? There was a code from the "captor," and would offer a reward to anyone who cracked it. Here's the comment:

""Lack of money is the root of all evil. " -George Bernard Shaw"

Does anyone know what the reward was, and who got it?

DTPowell was the one who got it. He submitted it three minutes before I had the chance too, and he said he'll post the picture here soon.

EDIT: I'm posting the code and the message here. Just in case it's used in the future, it will be good to have a leg-up on how to crack it.

Lack of money is the root of all evil

As far as I can tell so far:
- 0 can equal either E, V or Y
- 01= E
- 1=I
- 2 can equal either C or H
- 4 can equal either A or F
- 5 can equal either O or T
- 6 can equal S or N
- 7 can equal either M or R
- 8=L
- 9=K

Aye. I'm the one who won the pic. Sorry to keep you waiting. It has me positively stumped. The email that came with it said, quote "I wouldn't recommend sharing this with anyone. I really wouldn't." So do your best to keep it hush hush. Anywho, here it is, let me know if anyone figures it out.

Which of course is Odysseus' reply to the swineherd, Eumaios, upon taking him in in beggar form. The Odyssey, Book 14.
