[UPDATE] The Inept - Dec 31 2005

So, sounds like Orbicon's got a drug research program.

accrescossin and accrescarnin linked to dangerous drug interactions?
December 31st, 2005

"In 1994, 106,000 Americans died of adverse drug reactions (ADRs)." (1) Harmful drug interactions were responsible for less than 4% of US emergency room visits, but in 2003 in the US alone there were 113.9 million emergency room visits (2) – that would mean approximately 45.5 million of those visits were related to adverse drug reactions in the US alone.

The Inept has heard rumors that the FDA is preparing to refuse to give approval of Orbicon's anti-degenerative drugs Accrescossin and Accrescarnin due to serious and life threatening interactions with other medications, specifically Sulfonylureas, Meglitinides and Biguanides which affect insulin production and sensitivity to insulin. (3),(4) By increasing the availability and action of insulin, these drugs can lead to hypoglycemia in patients. The German Commission E will soon release a monograph on studies that will point out the drug interactions that make Orbicon's revolutionary drugs unsafe when combined with many other pharmaceuticals including herbs and vitamins.

The symptoms of the hypoglycemia these drugs cause are also symptoms of other illnesses and may go unnoticed. Moodiness and irritability may be thought to be caused by stress, a headache may be dismissed as tension from a long day. Each person reacts to hypoglycemia in their own way, and if they miss the signs, they could end up in a coma, have seizures or stroke, and end up with lasting brain damage.(5)

The Inept calls on Orbicon to immediately and voluntarily withdraw these drugs from the market, and to stop giving them to patients that they may be testing them on.

Sound familiar? Oh, right, of course not, my bad.

I've emailed Seth talking about this. It sounds like these drugs may (almost certainly) have played a part in Rasmussen's coma. I included quotes and a link back to The Inept. Hopefully he can pass this along to Cordelia and maybe we'll be able to wake the bastard up and get somethign out of him,
