Wild Spec / Stab in the Dark

I dunno...we have the First Hint as Do Re Mi...which I still am having a hard time relating with Clue character names, but be that as it may, we are supposed to have six winners...I'm not sure what the first color/character was linerally first mentioned in the journal, but at the bottom of Noah Boddy .com we see a red pawn, perhaps the first of six winners/puzzles will be to solve the clues that lead to scarlet with clues and such...next to the red/scarlet pawn are 5 other pawns almost invisible...my thoughts are that after the first "Arc" of the puzzle a new color...maybe White or Plum or whatever will appear and we solve for that.

Second hint was Charade... the clue turned out to be Optometrist...There are a few definitions of Charade....first and foremost is the game bering the same name where clues are acted out to acheive and convey the message as one guesses the clue...not unlike words and syllables as numbers from bible passages...but perhaps better for this clue is "to see through as thou transparent..ex:The election for President was seen as a charade by the people." ...that coupled with optometrist makes me wonder if that was the hint to the clue...

Actually I'm sure of it.

Still need a dollar figure...and the first person, actually the inventor of the Bi-focal, was Benjamin Franklin...somewhat of a optometrist...he was co inventor of the microscope and wore spectacles...

And he is on a hundred dollar bill...

Now we have an eyechart with Queens One on the bottom....actually, it is the spot that the Queen holds at the beginning of the game under notative form, not the more commonly almost universal Algebraic form...but people still use Notative form to this day...haven't had a chance to figure out anything else yet...

But if you go with a red/scarlet connection with a famous queen, how about good ol' Bloody Mary, or Mary, Queen of Scots? Also, I think she is represented by the Queen of Hearts in a standard Poker deck, and with still poking around in gambling territory, you never know...

Now, if she only wore glasses....hmmmm....

Any body else out there with some specs?

For those who (like me) couldn't see the other pieces DSoTM was talking about, see the gamma-enchanced version attached to my post.

Interesting thoughts on Charade, though. I really can't think of anything for Queensone, unless taking it literally as 'Queen's One,' perhaps a queen's optometrist? Or maybe I need some sleep Wink

According to the rules of Clue™, Miss Scarlett is always first. Cool
After that, play moves to the player on 'her' left. Following around the board that would be Col. Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, and finally Prof. Plum.

I wonder if we will be given these six puzzles in sequence, or if we'll have to determine which Clue goes with which Puzzle?

So far, three games have been mentioned,
clue
charade and
chess (Besides the queensone thing, there are chess pieces at the top of noahbobby's page)

Will three other games be introduced?
Will we be playing six games at one time, leading to six solutions?

Hmm, two board games, one palor game. Games, games...sports? a card game?
There must be a computer game coming. What pacman? monkeyballs? lol

For you experienced in it, (NOT ME) be on the lookout for suggestions of other AGR's.

and just to continue my rambling, clue was a game changed to a movie, charade is a game which became a title of a movie... and
there have been plenty of movies based on chess.

just thinking out loud.

Yes, and in the Clue movie, everyone was in someway involved with what happened, just like ARGs and, presumably, the six winners and the solution in the Noah Boddy mystery.

Another way to look at the Queensone message is that in Chess, it is possible to 'upgrade' your Pawns, and it could mean that the player 'Queens' one of his/her Pawns. The relevance of that, however, I'm not sure of.

[edit] Actually, it could be claimed that, because the Pawn is upgraded at the other end of the board, that since the queensone line is the end of the chart, that that's the reference. Or that I really need sleep. Take your pick Smile [/edit]

That would be an interesting use of the word Charade...it's a pawn, allthough it always has the possibility of becomming more than that...in this case a Queen....hmmmm....therefore a charade....

As for Queens One, I'm not sure that it would be in reference to a spot on a board...that would be written Q1 or Q-Q1 as in Queen at Queen One...Queen is never plural as in Queens One...that shows posessionship by the Queen...and where it is her square, that's not how it's referred to in chess...

Here are all the anagrams for the last line including Queens One ~

NEE SEN QUO
NEE SEQ UNO
QUEENS NEO
QUEENS EON
QUEENS ONE
QUEEN EN SO
QUEEN NE SO
QUEEN NOSE
QUEEN EONS
QUEEN ENOS
QUEEN NOES
QUEEN SONE
QUEEN ONES
SEEN EN QUO
SEEN NE QUO
NEO UNE SEQ
EON UNE SEQ
ONE UNE SEQ

There are some other possibilities out there...allthough I admit, Queens One looks to be the best... I allready checked out Queen Enos...lol....no records on her...

Considering the clues for this one, here's some speculation:

A Queen song "One Vision"

Spec about Clue

I seem to remember that the movie of Clue was made with several different endings, and you could see it a number of times and see different outcomes... weren't there six?

Since we're supposed to be figuring out who Noah is, maybe these clues have a hollywood/film industry bent to them. Maybe the movie Clue has someone on the cast or crew who is our mystery man/woman. And Queen's One...I didn't see the movie...is there a queen in it? Did they play charades in the movie? And the do-re-mi...is there a song in the movie?

Sorry, There were no Queens, no charades, and no particular song in "Clue". And there were only 3 endings.

Here's a thought........

Scarlett goes first in the game of clue.
In my limited knowlege of chess, pawns usually go first, and are considered throw away pieces.
Maybe NB's first move, do re mi..., is also considered a throw away move, just to get things started in the game.

do re mi fa so la ti
on the musical scale, correspond to the notes (starting at middle c)
C D E F G A B

If, all the references to 6=la
and la=A
Then we have the start of something else, the alphabet !

and as Abednego's first posted entry to his journal reads
"What a wonderful beginning!"

oh, i know the queen's one thing doesn't fit, but i'll keep working on it.

just to play devil's advocate, the Do-Re-Mi equals CDE in music if you know music, but could also map to ABC for the person who thinks strictly in terms of beginnings.

<sing>
Let's start at the very beginning,
a very good place to start.
When you read you begin with A-B-C,
When you sing you begin with Do-Re-Mi,
</sing>

For a person being literal about the "beginning" clue, this might be a problem. Ok, point made. Maybe it's all just redundant hints for the idea of "start here". With all the Bible references, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Alpha and the Omega.

Keeping with the spirit of anagrams, here's another wild speculation for this journal entry:

11th November, 2002. 10:01 pm. One for every year...

1 So deep in the south, the flowers always blossom
2 God was in our lives, in our hearts, in our love
3 Dominoes of actions
4 Our vision was given a new lease on life
5 Came the sounds to my ears, I ran for the cliff side
6 Catch it while you can
7 Rachel was straw that bore
8 Myself I closed up to her
9 Indecency
10 Each time that I came
11 Or her sorrow or her shame
12 Dead to her forever
13 One mistake that you face
14 My ears denied it as a lie
15 Kept cutting till she was through with him
16 Rachel was not my mistake...but these were two
17 And all to desperately soon
18 Make yourself open your mind

First letters from each line:
SGDOCCRMIEODOMKRAM

Out of 140+ anagrams, here's two that sound relevant with the religious theme:

god marked microcosm
god crammed sickroom

So either he is sick and/or is in a microcosm of his own belief system. j/k

Anyways, it can arguably fit in with the "What Dreams May Come" theme.

Again, this is just speculation...

Smile
