The Inept: Infiltration!

Well, I've been working on getting into the inept, albeit slowly, so here's my first email exchange with Cassandra.

Quote:
Dear Miss Cassandra,
Thank you for letting the thinking world know about all that is
going on in the area of medicine these days. I hope that you will keep
up the good work! I have had a hard time grasping my mind around the
drug interactions concept. Could you please explain in depth? Or even
better-would it be possible for us to message each other sometime? I
would love to learn more about your work.

Thank you for your time!

-Sherlock Holmes

After a few days.....

Quote:
Sherlock,

Interesting name you have there, Mr. Holmes. Do you work in the medical
field? I assume not, so let me explain a little about drug interactions.
Drug interactions can be extremely dangerous and sometimes fatal.
Unfortunately doctors don't always emphasize this point with their
patients. Some don't even ask if the patient is taking any OTC
medicines, nutritional supplements (vitamins and herbal remedies), or
prescriptions given out by other physicians.

Mixing drugs is like doing a chemistry experiment inside your body.
There can be countless unwanted effects from drug interactions such as
changes in absorption rates and changes in drug effectiveness. More
severe effects like seizures, hypertensive crisis and fatal changes in
heart rhythm can also occur.

The Inept's main goal is to stop unethical medical practices. We believe
the most effective tool we have is information. The public needs to be
armed with information that they can use to protect themselves and their
loved ones. In the case of dangerous drug interactions, every patient
should question their doctor about possible side effects when they are
given a new prescription. They should tell their doctor what medicines
they are taking, even if they are OTC and even if their doctor doesn't ask.

We have to let doctors know that we care enough about our own bodies to
demand the information we are entitled to. I know there are excellent,
caring doctors out there who care about their patients, but nearly
everyone has had the experience of feeling "rushed" through the doctor's
office.

Cassandra

There you have it! so...what's my next step...any advice?

-Holmes
