[UPDATE] Stevie's blog (Jan 12, 2006)

Quote:
January 12th, 2006 – Thursday

It's been ten whole days since I wrote in this last. Lots of things have happened.

We still haven't found my daddy.

We did a science experiment yesterday using the steel wool scrubby pads.

Steel Wool Generating Heat

Put the thermometer in the jar and close the lid.
Wait about 5 minutes and write down the temperature.
Remove the thermometer from the jar.
Soak a piece of steel wool in vinegar for one minute.
Squeeze the vinegar out of the steel wool pad. Wrap the steel wool around the bulb of the thermometer.
Place the thermometer and steel wool back into the jar and close the lid.
Wait 5 minutes.
Now take a look at the temperature.

We also left the steel wool in the jar so we can watch it rust for a few days.

We wrote everything down in out experiment logs just like the adults do! The steel wool was very, very rusty today when we checked.

Mommy is very unhappy with me. She discovered that I used up the last of her "2001 Heroes" stamps. I was using them to send things to my penpals. I ran out before I managed to get all my letters stamped. I had to ask mommy if we had any more I could use. She couldn't find any, and we don't have a postage kiosk on the station. But Mommy has a friend in Florida who works for TEP that we can send her the stuff through inside office mail for free and her friend will send them out. Mommy will just have to buy her friend lunch sometime. Because she asked, I told mommy they were just some hair clips and puzzles I was sending to my friends. She said to not send too many out or I wouldn't have any to wear. I promised that all I was sending out were the 15 that I had already in the envelopes sealed up. Some of the ones I sent out look just like other ones; two or three people may get the same puzzle. But I did each one all by myself.

I've been spending some time in the medical center keeping Dr. Martha company. She gets very grouchy when she can't go take care of her garden. Oh, I forgot to tell you – someone hit her on the head! And they stole something from her office too! But she really wants to go fix her garden. All her assistants come in every morning, and she tells them exactly what they need to do to fix the mushy ground. She has them adding rock dust to the dirt, and they are not allowed to add compost until the ground is dry again. She is very upset because the stopped up pipe messed up the way the garden is supposed to be watered. She said the plants might drowned from getting too much water! Raidar and I go and check on the plants, and some of them have leaves that have turned very yellow and droopy.

Raidar collects a little sample of the dirt each day and gives it to Dr. Martha. Mommy saw her with the container and told Dr. Martha she had to rest, and Dr. Martha said since she couldn't leave the sick bay, then they better bring her a computer and a microscope if they wanted to keep her from complaining. Mommy just rolled her eyes. But Dr. Martha has a computer on her TV tray now.

Raidar has been acting odd the last week or so. When we go places sometimes he wanders around the room and into a pantry or behind some tall things. When I go check on him he is just standing there, but he tells me there is nothing wrong. I tell him I don't want anyone stealing him, and to not wander by himself. He tells me he will not wander off by himself and then the next day, he does! Mommy says not to worry too much because SAIPets has tracking stuff they can use to find him if he is missing. But I don't want him getting hurt!

Well, Uncle Seth left Daddy's desk a mess yesterday, I need to go clean it up a bit.
