Frame 2 Hello World.

I didn't spoiler that as Seth provided it to us as a cofirmation early in the decoding process.

PS I did wonder if Hello World might be Raidar's new password so I emailed Seth asking him to try it. The last communications from Seth have emphasized the need to solve Raidar's password as a means of getting additional information about the locations Steven used to cache his evidence.

The note supplied at the Milwaukee drop had written (in pencil):

Quote:
PUT THEM IN ORDER, FIND THE GAPS

CPWUOERULDZEUNDEMR
LAIDCRINASHCTIEIOJVYW
UIBAPORDZEIQUMCHROSNOR
RALJYZMINMBBUFFULDSNXAC
OHMRSAHSWAHLLALKMNZUWTEHUJDI
HSJMZURQFAHIUQHZTRDFLLHUDGO
OMSVEYAOACIUHYUFNVGUTSILKBR
ODWLAYIUHGNEPHGYGEH

There is speculation that the photographs found at both drops so far (and potentially also those from the UK and Australia) should be put in order to reveal some kind of key to decipher the text above.
Although it is perhaps slightly premature I have listed the underlined numbers found on the backs of the photos, ordered by the number circled on each photo:

1
2.....317025102
3
4
5
6.....133702410
7
8.....039825108
9.....131985300
10...133782511

So... now they are in order... find the gaps! Cool

I hate to revisit frame 5 agains but I feel I must

What we have reads
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit,

Has nayone managed to translate this? Also the comma at the end makes me think there is mroe in that frame. Maybe the original .gif frame was corrupted much like the original "hello world" one and we need to take apart the repalced .gif (I psoted it) to get a full message.

I believe this is just traditional filler text, used as a kind of test run (much like "testtesttesttesttest" and "Hello World". Hence I think we can safely treat this frame as being of no consequence.

Kinda funny you asked. This one was driving me nuts. I tried translators everywhere Latin to English. Finally just looked it up in full and found http://www.lipsum.com/

Noticed the Bristol thing didn't work. Google search for Isambard Obelisks came up w/ this:

Just a fifteen minute bus or Tube ride from Paddington Station is Kensal Green Cemetery.  It nestles between the Harrow Road, the Grand Junction Canal and the railway, and is a delightful place to pass a gloomy afternoon.

Kensal Green was the first of the great cemeteries to be established beyond the limits of the metropolis in the second quarter of the nineteenth century.  To wander round it is to get an idea of Victorian values, tastes, ideals and beliefs.

Anthony Trollope is buried there, so is William Thackeray, Wilkie Collins, George Birkbeck (philianthopist and educationalist) and Charles Babbage. Also there are the Brunels, father, Sir Marc Isambard Brunel (who designed the Thames Tunnel) and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, whose Great Western Railway runs a stone's throw away from the cemetery.

Edit: had the wrong Brunel highlighted - fixed it

Looking towards the gasworks

The cemetery was inspired by the famous Parisian graveyard, Père-Lachaise.  There are dozens of mini-Greek temples, obelisks, sarcophagi, vaults and tombs.  In the middle of the site is an Anglican Chapel, there is also a Dissenter's Chapel in the far corner, a crematorium and catacombs which can accommodate 4000 coffins.

Anglican Chapel

The atmosphere is peaceful and comforting.  The view is slightly spoiled by the Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury's. Further in the distance is the Trellick Tower, an inhabited gravestone, you could say.  There are a number of graves from the 1990s, some with small photographs.  You can buy a small guide for £1 which has details of those who are laid to rest in the cemetery and a map of where to find their graves.

The grave of the appropriately named Mr George Stiff

The Anglican Chapel & Catacombs

Every Sunday at 2pm regardless of the weather, they have guided tours.  They last about two hours and cost £5 per person.  On the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month the tour of the cemetery is shortened to allow for a visit to the catacomb.  You should bring your own torch.

The grave of the Brunel family

The grave of Mary Scott Hogarth - Dickens' sister-in-law, who died at 17.

The cemetery is open seven days a week, opening times are 1st April - 30th September 9.00 - 6.00 (Sundays 10.00 - 6.00) and 1st October - 31st March, 9.00 - 5.00 (Sundays 10.00 - 5.00).

You can get to Kensal Green Cemetery on the No 18 bus which runs along the Harrow Road. Alternatively you can get the Bakerloo line to Kensal Green and it is a two minute walk across the Harrow Road.  They have a website: www.kensalgreen.co.uk

Hope it's helpful[/b]

Went back to the Bristol site and managed to eliminate the Observatory itself. There is no seat inside, nor anywhere to stash anything since it is being refurbished at the moment.

Took some pics for y'all... posted here

No other progress though, we need something more specific to go on really...

Just to update, i haven't been back to the Melbourne site. Rather than heading in again without any details, i'm going to wait to see what was on the data chip (Seth seemed pretty confident there would be more information on the locations on the card):

I can tell you that I'm positive that the information would have helped us to find the final two caches.

So, until i get more details, it's just a waiting game for me...

Well, the coordinates we got were aggravatingly vague (1 mile radius or so), so we are hoping that Tom was close. I was using that image to discuss possible hiding locations in chat.

As pointed out by enaxor in the ribbons thread, the code accompanying the Bristol Co-ordinates translates to BRIDGE. Does this narrow things down for you Tom?

I wish!

The location (especially as far as I was concerned, having lived in the area for longer than I care to remember) was already established as being the area around the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol, UK (see earlier posts and chats). The poem appears to describe taking the winding path up the hill towards the observatory (and camera obscura within... gazing before and behind..?) where there can be found a seat. I looked the weekend before last all round this area, also behind and under every seat (there are maybe 15 possible benches?) but could find nothing. Also there is no specific, one "seat" at all.

Since then I have been back twice but come to the same conclusion that we should be looking in that same place. Part of me wishes we had literally step-by-step instructions like those that were sent to people in America! I was just hoping for something more specific in the ribbons, like an exact location or a time, not the same clue again.

I can only suggest taking a bulldozer to the shrubbery... Smile

Tallerbird may well be on her way to check out the location tomorrow (Wednesday). Expect more news then hopefully!

Edit: I think this must be some kind of mistake. Otherwise, the cache is placed in a residential area, right in front of someone's doorstep! I can't imagine that...

I posted two pictures of the location in Bristol indicated by the ribbons in the corresponding thread.

Here's one more, showing that the location taken from the ribbons and the one we supposed the cache has been hidden are quite a ways apart. Are you sure that this is all that's in the frame? It seems impossible to get to the coordinates from what is in there. And it seems quite short in comparison to the others, but that doesn't mean anything, really.
It's odd, because the coordinates don't point to a bridge, but an ordinary street...probably the bridge serves only as a starting point and you have to "watch" from somewhere - the observatory? - to get there, but the rest of the directions is missing from the poem?

So here is the picture:
