Just giving my 2 pennies regarding the situation at the present moment.

Would it not be considered sloppy to use ROT -again- so soon? An easy cipher to lure people into the game, perhaps, but we're there now. Surely they'd step it up a wee bit? (serious question)

I also added his LJ to my friends list. Let's see if the clue fairy leaves a gift on my pillow tomorrow morning.

I was thinking ROT... I'm not sure what to think yet though... I just hope "the clue fairy" leaves me a clue too...

Not the way we're being introduced to these things.

They're ROT - of that I'm almost positive.

They're just done in such a clever way he might as well have used the nine-layer-plus encryptions we've been seeing in the Adams game.

ROT-7ing both of the results so far gives the words

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
waggley

and
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
doggie

So I would say this is definitely the way to go (Rot-7ing all incoming singalongs).

Note the basic subject of DOGS (doggie is obvious, waggley perhaps referring to the wagging of a tail?)

A bit too soon to make that kind of judgement, I think.

But certainly worth a shot! Smile

Well the first thought that jumps to mind is:

How much is that doggie in the window,
The one with the waggley tail.

Well known song. Appropriate for, say, a singalong?

Well, we're 2/2 thusfar on the ROT-7ing singalong, and I'm more inclined to believe it since this guy obviously likes the number 7, noting the discovery of this ARG by using ROT-7 and the 7 in his usernames.

Yembles, congratulations on a brilliant thought!

I believe the song is called "How much is that doggy in the window?" Razz

It's called 'How much is that doggie in the window?' and the full lyrics can be found here.

Though I never learnt anything past the chorus as a youngster...

Solution is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
L-U-C-I-D

The first number represent the actual line of the lyrics of the song, the second number, the n-th word in that line, and the third number the n-th letter

Doesn't bring you any farther though, or may-be it is a name on LJ?

Hannelore

It may just be a coincidence (utter newbie, just wandering around the forums and thought this looked interesting), but I noticed that the LJ posts have been mentioning someone called Hannelore. Questionable Content has been featuring a sub-plot in which one of the main characters meets a girl called Hannelore Ellicott-Chatham (she's a bit mad, with OCD, and makes a living via her website, where she hires herself out to people who need things counted.

See also this blog post about that name.

No idea if that will help anyone or not!
