[Email] Martha Crappert

I emailed Martha to see how she was doing and also to see if she thought the picture of Cassandra looked like Davina. (I wanted some independent view on what Seth was reporting) She thinks it might be a close relative.

Quote:
I'm recovering OK. Thanks for your concern. Cordelia is a good doctor, she is just very cautious. I think she is worried because it would take so long to get someone to a hospital on earth if it is more than she could handle. It doesn't make sitting around and twiddling my thumbs any easier. Seth found me and called Cordelia right away. He's worried about everyone on the station too. I think he is afraid the individual responsible is getting desperate and might do something worse than knock an old goat like me on the head.

Don't you worry; I'm very thick headed. Stevie really likes Seth a lot. She talked to me about him a lot when she visited me in Sick Bay. She trusts him and I have heard that kids are a very good judge of character. He has been working hard. I really have to admire how much he has done and how he has tried to keep from seeming like he was stepping on the security officer's toes. They have really developed a respect for him because of that, and how he has been working on the investigation on Steven.

There are over 500 people on the station that he has had to interview, plus a number of records he has had to go through by hand. It can't be easy for him having to learn to deal with the environment and keep on track with his investigation. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to being lighter on my feet.

I like my gardens, but really I am worried more because of the part they play in keeping the station a place to live. I don't want the station to end up smelling like the inside of MIR. We can keep the air breathable using carbon dioxide scrubbers, but the gardens keep the air smelling fresh. The gardens are also a nice place to relax. It is a quality of life issue. I guess I have a lot invested emotionally to seeing my idea work.

On a more serious issue, the picture you pointed me to at theinept.net does look a bit like Davina. Those medical masks are not very useful for telling if it is the same person or not. It's her hair color; the face looks to be the same shape. But the angle of the picture and the mask really make it difficult for me to be 100% certain. I'd say it was a relative, but she is Igor's only child, and I don't think he has any siblings. The Bronco's never talk about her mother, so I can only guess that Davina's mother passed away some time ago or the family is a "dysfunctional" one. Davina certainly turned out very well though; she is a sweet person. Don't tell her I said that. I have a reputation as a crotchety old woman to uphold.

About your question in the earlier e-mail regarding the Ribbon cutting Ceremony, Davina was on board up here. She did the cutting up here in Port Rosetta while her father cut the ribbon at the ground base. He wanted her to give a virtual tour to the investors via closed circuit TV. She has been up here for most of the last year. I think she had to take the usual health mandated trip to the ground, but other than that she has been here.

I'm doing well, still have a bump that hurts when I touch it. I really want to get back to my work though. I am bored just sitting around. I hate doing paperwork, and that is all I am allowed to do.

Sincerely,
Martha
