The toy show is closed to industry only -- so really you only need to be a representative of a business. It would be wrong to suggest sneaking in the back, taking advantage of the busy move-out day, with trucks and people coming and going in all directions. I plan on attending as a representative of an actually quite legitimate business. The list of requirements fFor attendees is available on the IATF website

Also: I started a page to list who's going, here:
http://wiki.incognitus.net/ppc/index.php/PCAG_NYC_Event
Please do note it is *NOT* the official sign-up sheet, it is only a place where you may tell other players you plan to attend. The next step, I believe, would be to coordinate hotels or things fFor people to stay. (I, fFor one, would much prefer to share expenses and conversation and stuff with someone.) Any locals have some spare fFloorspace to sleep on?

Be real. Your all going to get a place regardless of whether you signed up last or not. Or have never bought a pack of cards in your life.

You all know it, PPX is biased towards Unfiction. It changes the game based on the desires of the (minority) group here. Because its the biggest single group.

Mind Candy doesnt care about the other players, only the ones who discuss things online and are SEEN. It doesnt care about the ones who work in msn groups and friends who play in their own houses.

So you'll all be safe and it will be people like myself, who owns every card, who has been high on the leaderboard for ages, and who applied as soon as the update was announced, will miss out.

I sense some bitterness in the above message. Not nice to read.

There is NO guarantee that ANYONE here will get a place. Hell, for all we know, they might choose to make this one uNF-free.

seriously, you disagree?

Put it this way then. And i have NOTHING against UF, i quite like it. But its clear mind candy is biased towards you.

Oliver, you will be there. You could be the last person to enter, but you will be there. Why? Status. You are no.1 on the leaderboard. And thats great.

But were you the one who solved differently lethal? or polar? Did you solve every silver card? No.

If it wasnt for unfiction releasing the answers, noone would have solved every single solved card. The leaderboard isnt exactly fair. I'm in the top few hundred, but i know ive solved everything myself.

So to do it by the leaderboard, then unfiction people will win cos you all know all the answers.

To do it by date signed up, well unfiction links to it straight away, so you will have all seen the advert before everyone else.

And seeing as mindcandy drink with you all in a pub, its OBVIOUS that you guys are all safe. All the regulars who make themselves known and email a lot and stuff will be there, trust me.

Save with all the bitter words. If you can't beat them, join them.

An ARG is a community thing. It is not designed for one person to take it all on alone. We all know that some people at the top only got there through reading every answer from uNF, some particularly hard ones I myself have looked through the threads for advice and on one or two occasions, the solve. Because 100 minds working together is better than 1.

Isn't it equally likely that they will decide to go for people who haven't attended an event like this before, and hence, someone who isn't an unfiction member? We have no way of knowing how it will be decided.
Most likely is that it'll be decided by speed of email. They won't try and link each email address with a profile, check it, and see whether they're registered on unfiction, how many points they have, or how long they've played for. And just because all the updates get posted here, doesn't mean that everyone sees them as soon as they are posted. I think you're wrong about how it's going to be selected. I also take serious issue with your frankly libellous comments about Mind Candy. They are not "biased towards" us, and I can't recall as single time where they "changed the game based on our desires". I think that your comments about them "not caring" about individual players are harmful. I have a lot of respect for you, you have a lot of courage to post repeatedly on this forum, and tell us that we are wrong, and have the nerve to back it up. However, this doesn't mean that I agree with your viewpoint. Your post insults us, Mind Candy, and cheapens the whole experience. I do not think that your post would have been written in the same manner if you were calm, to be honest, I think that you were upset about something else. This is all merely speculation on your part. We have no control over whether we are picked or not; we'll know by Wednesday evening. I suggest that you are careful with what you say before then.

The cards arent part of the ARG, mindcandy said so themselves. The leaderboard is unconnected to the cube, and instead is a test of ones intelligence.

My betting is my score is as high if not higher than 99% of UF members. Yet most of them will be higher than me because you give out all the answers to everybody.

I just find it hard to see where the fun is in that? Oooh lets spend £10 on cards, look at them, rub the shiny packet, go online and find the answers! yay! top of the leaderboard and i really deserve it! (yeah right.)

Do you buy a book to only read the last page too?

No one knows how we'll be selected so how you can claim such things is beyond me travelling performer. No one gets anywhere by being bitter and twisted.

Its not all about the actual PCAG. Bert, Juxta, duckiemonster and I are going regardless whether we get an email or not, because we want to meet each other and have a laugh. If we don't get picked, we'll go sight seeing and catch up in the pub later! Its more of a social event than a competition. ARG's are about having fun and making new friends, not getting so caught up in the matter that you have to rant in such a depressing way. Fine, it sucks that some of us won't get picked, but there will be other events. It's not fair, but neither is life so get used to it. The sooner you do, the happier you'll feel.

Rant over.

We are here for the community aspect. I like to be here for easiness of following the story and seeing what other people have to say.

If you really dislike all of us for looking up answers of cards then why be here.

The last thing I like doing is coming onto this forum where everybody is friendly and getting along to read somebody totally taking the rip out of everybody here. Believe it or not TP but not everybody has the exact same view as you. Many people do enjoy just having the cards, atempting to solve and seeing the answer. Just because we dont all want to work out every single card all by ourself. just because we have different views to you.

What more, you have a go at
Quote:
99% of UF members
and yet stick around and involve with discussions. I wish you would either join in with our discussions and be friendly or not partcipate at all, its really putting a downer on the whole community experience. So please TP stop arguing about anything you feel right to.

You can put your view across but when you just keep repeating yourself over and over stressing the same points over and over again even while people are responding to your points. it really wears a bit thin...

I'm going too whether I am accepted or not, we can still take part in the event even if it is unofficially, there's no law against it, we just won't get prizes!

YAY

OK, I have used answers I found on Unfiction to get points for cards. But without it, I wouldn't have the faintest idea what some of them were about, and would probably not learn anything about the subjects. I like being able to know the answer, then go off and work out how the answer was reached, and read up on the background on the theories/people/places/whatever. This way I can expand my knowledge to things I doubt I would ever have heard of. That's where some of the fun come from, for me at least.

I didnt have a go at 99% of unfiction members.

What i said is my score on the leaderboard would be higher than 99% of uf members if they chose to solve things themselves instead of reading the answers.

Honestly forgery, if you want to cheat, feel free, but that is what it is. I'm not the type to read the answers on a crossword then fill it in to make me feel better, but whatever makes you happy.

As far as the event, my money is on every well known uf member, oliver (who i genuinely do respect, and expect would be in the 1% above me regardless of reading solves), juxta, reason and co, all being there in london. And me most likely missing out. Because im not known around the community (i.e here). And the friends im going with are not known at all.

But if you think they'll be random, then fine. But i wouldnt worry if i were you, you'll all be there. We shall see. Smile I'm out.

hahahaha -- this is an arg where the hive mind works -- if we share info/solves all works well

args are not for individual glory -- IMHO

unfiction = ARGS
so how is it possible to cheat? (other than brute force maybe)
