I think they are just spacer.gifs, quite common in web pages... The location of them as well isn't in his home directory, so I think its more somethng to do with Geocities rather than The Composer..

It could be, though using a standard spacer wouldn't mean anything, it would be the widths that mattered, I guess he could be using them for the narrow vertical bands ...
