Yep! Very Happy And it's been a big help in working around that name, at least over here!

Is there any chance we could pick apart the sounds that seem to come from different sentences? To me, some of the word parts don't fit with the rest, in terms of tone of voice. It might help us to separate these so we know what goes with what.

I've been putting a few randoms in the first two or three boxes because of the strange thing that happens with box 2. Then it's easier to hear what the combonations might be.

It seems like if you put L2 and L5 in the first 2 boxes the rest of the spaces play.

I think something just dawned on me...

I don't think they play left to right.
I changed the third one, and it tweaked the first sound.

Something tells me first, then last.
I tested it for a bit; when there's something in the middle, it's first, and then last.
Try it.

And, yes, I totally agree there's two different sets of vox here.
"Liddy" is U1, U3-U9, and L4.
"Angie" is the rest.
(I think...)

sorry alisdair, I did notice that but it wasn't until Monkey posted 'key strokes' that I knew how to get it.

So, "when I am Angeline" sounds good but doesn't really make sense

and "what is my name" is good too

I was thinking if second box is intentionally 'broke' then maybe there is a missing sound. For example:
"what does my name"

could we need to find out the meaning of Angeline perhaps?

Gaspar, I'm too dense to sort out what you mean by the left to right thing not working. Embarassed Could you elaborate?

GAR I'm so annoyed I have to go to class right now... I'll be in for two and a half hours! Hm... anybody out there have text messaging and want to text me mid-lecture if the code is cracked? Cool Hehe... the students will never know...

As gasper Lewis says theres something about this thats more than just playing left to right.

For example if you put one on the very left box and one on the very right.
It only plays the one on the left.

Now add another one anywhere in between those and it will play the first two..

e.g x=box place in slot and o = empty slot.

x o o o o o o o x

this combination will only play the sound to the very left.

BUT

x o o o x o o o x

will play the one to the left first and then the one at the very far right.

Sounds more like "Between 1 and nine in and my name." Don't have much to add to improve that. It's one of the closer ones I think

More like "Between when and I in my name" ... I think the cuttof syllables mutate in the ear when you put something wrong next to them, so its easy to mis-hear

yes I've gone to earphones now to make sure I'm hearing right, the speakers were just distorting slightly.

I think the rule for the bites played is simply that it never plays the second bite, regardless of where it is, ie x00xxooox it will play the first third and last x's

Oh, I see! Thank you, Gaspar and Wizard! Very Happy It takes a small team of people to get anything through this thick head of mine.

Good find. I wonder what that means, though. For instance, in other situations, we can get it to play from left to right. But when there are gaps it does something else. Is there some kind of alternate message available? Dunno

Heading to class now! Here's hoping the code holds for at least another few hours so I can be there when it's solved! Wink

Now, if we can suss out the pattern it plays in or the pattern it's using to skip in, we can start fudging about with making sentences.

Of course, getting that miniscule bit was labor enough... Bang Head

"My name is in between"...

Perhaps we have to fill in the missing syllables?

I think the bites with static might be important, kinda like blanks in scrabble? we need to use them to get the complete phrases...

If so we have 18 bites, 15 with sound, 3 blanks = c. 8 blocks per phrase, based on 3 voices
