Private messages From the June 26th 2002 12:00 PM Private matters:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/ourfather/
"In the meantime, there are private messages on this journal. I'm sure someone can figure out how to get to them."
Alright, this sort of thing is not my strong suit. Any ideas on how to find these private messages? The uppercase words? The colors? The refrain of: Purgatory is not Purgatory is Purgatory. ?
Speaking of Purgatory, isn't there a town called Purgatory?

for the private messages, i was wondering if we have to be user/members of LiveJournal to access special features like Private Messages and other listings.
for the town of Purgatory, that was where Joe goes to die. There was a cool made-for-TV movie about a town called Purgatory where old cowboys and gunslingers got to remake their lives.

I was looking through the livejournal site, and it seems that in order to access his private messages we'll have to log into his account. Looks like we'll need his password.
BTW, you are only allowed so many tries in a period of time (which I haven't been able to determine) to guess a password.

Wanna let us know what you've tried already so we don't spend our limit on the same attempts?

The usual way to see private messages in LJ is for the account owner to add you to his/her "friends" list. For example, if ourfather added me to his friends list, any messages that he marked as "private" I would be able to see.
So how do we get ourfather to add someone to his friends list?

What haven't I tried?
I've done a lot of combinations of the Clue stuff: whitecandlestick[room] (for all of them, actually), white[room]candlestick (again all rooms). I tried mrswhite[lounge/study]candlestick and mrswhitecandlestick[lounge/study] (since he said the prankster was in his living room, study and lounge seemed closest to that).
I tried some various things out of his messages (purgatory, belief, abednego, some others I don't remember along those lines).

No user exists with the name optometrist at livejournal.com. Good thinking though.

Here are some other passwords that don't work, at least so far.
sabrina
joe
greenblue
bluegreen
rev.stone
abednegostone
revabednegostone
ourfather
rehtafruo (ourfather backwards)
lightofhtelamb
lightofthelambbaptist
eden
kimikee
cloutier
The last two come from typing "optometrist" at LJ's "find user by interest" section. Only one user comes up. If you're interested, you can find it here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/kimikee/
At any rate, none of these worked for me.

I have been simply entering the dates (http://www.liverjournal/user/ourfather (or noahboddy)/day/2002/11/02 (for example....) and on some dates I keep getting the following code (with only the date changed each time). I'm not a techie so can someone tell me what it means?
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Thu, 07 Nov 2002 02:57:09 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.24 (Unix) Debian GNU/Linux mod_gzip/1.3.19.1a mod_perl/1.26 Cache-Control: private, proxy-revalidate Content-length: 4159 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
Does this mean this date's entry is private?

That's just the standard headers that all web servers send with pages. They shouldn't be visible, some error is causing them to show up.
