[SPEC] Map hacker aliases to file extensions

A first pass, I tried to note where I was using irc2 info,
which I consider quite suspect.

Pretty Confident
caesar(jpg) - paintover net postings, irc1, irc2
texel(txt) - irc1, implied in carelessly.txt
scratch(mic) - embedded in carelessly.mic, and sig of silvia.mic

irc2 info
firewall(goo) - mentioned in irc2, image looks like a wall of fire
aurora(kbp) - participates in irc2. Pizza mentioned in carelessly.kbp and aurora mentions pizza in irc2. Makes wind ref in irc2 (carelessly.wsg)
einstein(bh) - participates in irc2. bh files are images of lorenz + swirl whic imply math so einstein(?). Makes wind reference in irc2 which would imply carelessly.wsg (egg w/ wind ref)
aurelius(???) - particpates in irc2 (might be mlo? answers roll call w/ 64)
sever(???) - participates in irc2 (says nothing. caesar addresses in irc2 "sever: late as always, haha")

could be aliases from irc2:
cheshire
rigel

unmapped file extensions:
mp3, gif, graffle, wsg, lhp, ypt, qm2, m_u

only in carelessly and not on silvia:
goo, qm2, m_u

I agree on IRC1 and IRC2 Legitimate PM Chats

IMO we need to watch for the following appearing on any IRC chats:

      caesar
      texel
      aurelius
      aurora
      sever
      einstein

      and your suggestions of

      rigel
      cheshire

      FYI:
See my edited post of the IRC1 and IRC2 chats where I removed all "non relevant" posters and makes for a much easier read on this page:

Good work skeptic... does anyone want to even bother keeping an eye out for those posters on paintover.net?

Personally, I think we can trust about half of those posts as far as we can fart them, but some of them could well be legit. I've given up even trying to follow what's going on in there: it just gets too confusing... god bless you, mods! Smile

Any volunteers to do an edit?
(takes a good long step back...)
      Wink

Correlated File Extensions By Character Letter

I have posted a correlation of Character "names" by letter using the file extensions and have correlated them between the silvia and carelessly files. This thread is in the General / Updates section.

FWIW, I think einstein and aurelius are not part of the game. They came from nonstandard hosts and all. If this is part of the game, then I wonder what it is.

      Get your sciences straight

      Ok, here goes:

Forget einstein. If einstein is real, he CERTAINLY has nothing to do with the hacker (bh). Why?

Both images that (bh) has posted have been pictures of chaotic systems. The first was a Lorenz Strange Attractor, having to do with pendulums and oscillating systems.

The second image has something to do with a drop of colored paint, dropped in a bucket of white paint, and swirled. The random patterns that ensue are chaotic diffusion. Similar to the tests chaotists(sp?) used to model the Big Spot in Jupiter.

Therefore, I propose that the hacker's name is Chaos. If there are any clues in chaos, we should look to scientists or words like Feigenbaum, Lorenz, Smale, Mandelbrot, Fractal, etc... NOT einstein.

      My 0.02.

(If you want more friendly and interesting reading on the subject, try the book "Chaos: Making a New Science" by James Gleick. I'm currently re-reading it. It's fun! (Gleick's homepage is http://www.around.com/ ... a good software download is free there for Chaos generators... also look on Sourceforge for a opensource program called "Fractal Forge".) Too bad I don't get paid for referrals! Very Happy

not quite character names but speculation about the hackers anyway (and I didnt want to start another thread)

I was looking at the sites they have hacked and I wondered if there was a pattern there?
I mean apart from little-boxes all the sites would be challenges for a hacker. They would have to break firewalls etc but little-boxes just seems all wrong, its not a big company site (in the context of the game) so why hack that site?

Plus whilst the hackers leave us files at these sites what are they looking for?

just more thoughts put out there to muddy the waters Smile
