New idea / angle.
Okay so far we have all tried - and failed to get the info we need posting to the board. In the Main this is due tot he fact that we are asking for links / info on how to access the system and I think it quite clear that this wont happen.
now we know the file reader page possibly asking for the file name that was used on the Vaird cd might be a good idea as this only implies that we want to find the correct file. so Im gonna post a request under Lin Applebaum.
Worth a try

Has anyone tried downloading the shockwave file (file_system.swf) and decompiling it, or try to extract some information out of it somehow. I have no idea how to do this myself but i know from playing Nokiagame for a few years that people have done this and found information that we maybe werent supposed to see. It might provide some clues to the password.

That's a big no-no. I ought to give you a time out. Just kidding. I won't give you a time out. But seriously, I think that's generally considered a faux pas.

Could everyone please 'own up' to the things that they've posted? I can't follow who said what, or what the real employees are posting.

Well, that was some brilliant deception manuevering, soton!
Let's hope it bears fruit.
In the meantime, start guessing file names!

I know but I figured it was on a similar path to your other post.
Anyways I have tried the following file names using the reader tag:
Viard
viard
silvercity
silver_city
Silver_City
The_Silver_City
all the track listings on the silver city
hshcd001
my wife has started to question my sanity

I myself dont see why, we've been told to get into the file system anyway we can, and obvioulsy posting messages is the best way to do that. However it could lead no-where still. I think its best to try every avenue to get in. Its not a normal puzzle they are giving us, we have to find a password, and maybe decompiling the flash is one of the ways we can do it. There are many different ways of making puzzles and their solves, this could be one.
Just my thought

I think that decompling the flash is not what was in mind with this puzzle, this quote

o we'll have to work out the password through the old social engineering route
from Kurt's blog seems to indicate that we're going to have to find this one out through deception rather than brute force.
Hello by the way, don't post here often but I lurk with interest.

Hi all
there's also a page - http://www.hesh-intranet.com/heshencrypted/file_system_secure.php?p=
where the ?id= bit is the password and returns a success/fail response to the calling page, so the password doesn't need to be embedded in the .swf.
This does give a way to chuck a file-load of words at the URL automatically - does anyone have a Hesh/PXC list of likely favourites?

My thoughts on this were maybe go for Lulu Hayashi's (Talent) account. The only reason I thought this was because in her personal info she says about her baby. Now, I used to have relatives whose pin numbers etc were always d.o.b of various other family members, so I've been trying various combinations but no luck.
My other thought is lets just get right to it and pretend we've forgotten a password. Maybe ask for a set time when it will be on the board, for a short time, so that you can access it again?

As discussed above, decompiling the swf is not the way to solve this. Admittedly the fact that I know where you got it from suggests that you aren't the only one to try it!
MC must know that there are technical people out here, and if the puzzle was a decompiling one I'm sure it would be obvious.
Although I'm new to ARG's I understand that brute force is a big no no. It takes out the fun of trying to figure it out.

Tried many a different password last night using date of joining, fave things, hated things, baby names, baby DoB etc no joy. Was wondering if there may be a site for the Daemons as they are a team of some sort with news etc couldnt find anything and as Kevin seems so keen on them this may be something he used for his password or the password - any ideas?
Will have to keep an eye on the posts see if we develop a thread.
Friday is looming and I have a horrible feeling.....
