Great job massive! I have to admit being completely flabbergasted on the cyphers though.

Looking at the encryption program a password of four symbols becomes 7 numbers, a pass of 5 symbols becomes 9 etc. So by that reasoning the username has to 7 symbols long and the pass appears to be 11. Brilliant work Ethernull, I wouldn't have the first idea what to do with javascript. Smile I saw it in the source code but I frankly didn't pay much attention to it.
Using ln() and a thru z as possible characters the result comes out to be between 10.6 and 11.2 characters. Thus I second the 11 character password suggestion Smile

I think it is something to do with this:
ThComposer [15:39]: Table - Keers - Eye - Village - Thistle - Crow - Saevitia - Table - Rin9 - Eye - Village - Eye

And possibly the 8 character codes we have from before. Have those been used for anything yet?

Picture 5 has the word Ducky.
I have noticed similar character strings in non-suspicious pictures, they might be harmless. "Ducky" is a tag that gets inserted whenever you modify a JPG using Adobe Photoshop.

just got one as well, can't post it though, it's f'in War & Peace!! copied the e-mail over into Word and it's 26 pages long!!
It ends with == so I am guessing it's Base64 encoded.

Thanks Cross

That rules out the source text of the pics then, it must be down to the camoflauged items then - has anyone tried the list of words as passwords? i.e Eye, Table etc.?

For War & Peace we've got quite far, the most recent post was by Massive, but Lysithea got to the same point

I tried using the first letters of each word, I tried lopping off the first letter (as we've seen happen in this place before), I tried shifting Eye to Hand (that was an earlier clue that went nowhere) and shifting everything three letters ... no avail.

Looking at the password numerically, it appears to either have a bunch of 'D's in it (D=100) ... or possibly a bunch of '2's (2=50). ... Wait, where was that number string with all the 1's, 2's, and 3's?

The 16 page document consists of three patterns that repeat. I have labelled them 0,1,2 which yields the attached document. Anything we can do with a tertiary code ?

EDIT: Silly me, Lysithea had already deciphered this.

New email this morning. It was binary/morse code/ROT in that order. Here is the translation.

Quote:
THE FIRST KEY FOR THE FIRST LOCK IS TABLE - KEERS - EYE - VILLAGE - THISTLE - CROW - SAEVITIA - TABLE - RIN9 - EYE - VILLAGE - EYE. BUT YOU HAVE KNOWN THIS FOR SOME TIME. HOWEVER, THIS CODE, THIS IS NOT THEIRS. THIS IS MINE. IF I JUST SENT THEIR SECURITY CODE TO YOU, I'M SURE THEY WOULD FIND IT. BUT TIME IS RUNNING OUT. AND NOW EVAN NEEDS YOUR HELP TOO. NOONE HAS DIVIDED THE EIGHT EITHER. I COULD OFFER A HINT, BUT THERE COULD BE CONSEQUENCES. EVEN SPEAKING LIKE THIS IS A RISK FOR ME. DECIDE.

Damn this is frustrating, how do we break the code?? Personally I don't want to ask for a hint, but that could be my foolish pride, having said that "there could be consequances..."

If the previous posts are right we are looking for an 11 character code, there are 12 words in the first key, so there are 2 possibilities 1) There was an error in how the 11 was arrived at and it is in fact 12, or 2) We combine Keers & Eye as it was in the first hints, which gives us the 11.

The capitals don't work, I've also tried the numbers of letters per word, no luck. I keep coming back to the fact that he used some of our email addresses in the code, but I haven't been able to find the others

I got it I got it I got it ...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's a combination of both the numbers and the letters. You use the numbers from the original email for the people and the associated letters for Table, Eye, and Village. Does that make sense? You end up with a password that's:

a2bc132a1bcb

I'll try and post a more thorough solve of it tomorrow morning. It checks out numerically in the dynamicdrive page ... but doesn't LEAD ANYWHERE if you put it into the .tk login page! Argh!

Great work Massive kudos.

I can confirm it works, but get a page not found screen, but then I often get that on this PC anyway due to internet limits set up within work.

So where do we go now, we've got the first and second keys? Could someone try the key on the pictures, I can't do it on this PC either.

Hi all,
I'm new to all this ARG stuff - I was given the Perplex City introduction pack for Christmas Very Happy .
Anyway, I've been looking at the username/password scripts and got the renata username by factorising the encoded value. This doesn't work for the other Sad since it has limited precision. The only thing I deduced was that the password was 10-14 characters long. One thing that did occur to me about the encoding is that it uses a commutative algorithm, i.e. the order is not important so although the above password works, the characters within it may not be in the right order (and the page not found error reflects this).
Once massive details how the password was found perhaps someone might be able to deduce the correct order.
As a side note, the picture of the bridge in the cache file is the Don Luis Bridge to Vila Nova da Gaia in Portugal. Don't know if that's any use.

Skizz

I've tried a few combinations both using abc, and using other letters, and the only one that produces anything other than the password/ username combination wrong message is the one above.

That's not to say that another password won't work, just I haven't found one...
