[SPEC] Atlantis references

We've been seeing some connections to Atlantis. First of all, the quote from Phillip's bio page on Metadex is from Plato's Timaeus and Critias, which is about Atlantis. You can read the original text here:

http://www.activemind.com/Mysterious/Topics/Atlantis/timaeus_and_critias.html

Also, one of the members of the journal's editorial board is named Lydia Diodorus: Diodorus also wrote about Atlantis. (EntropyUnleashed noticed this first.)

Of course, the whole Aquapolis project fits into this theme as well.

Any others?

I think the Merovingian is connected to Atlantis. Here is a very interesting text that, in the lamest of terms, i can summarize as: the Merovingian bloodline comes from the ancient rulers of Atlantis. This link was posted by someone on www.thematrixreloaded.com, and I will give an excerpt of her post here:

(In reference to the fight scene in the Merovingian's mansion, after just having met the Keymaker)

Been into Greek and Roman Myths for ages - first thing that struck me (other than how cool the fight was), was the amount of sea/marine images in the scene.

Majority of the weapons were tridents and the ninja weapons (trident shaped). The shorter henchman used the small, round shield and short sword - and along with a net (not in movie) are the weapons of choice for gladiators who had devoted themselves to Neptune (Poisedon- greek), the Roman god of the Sea.

The marble statues were very Romanesque, and combined with the weapons sorta of made me think of the Mer's lineage as being based on the power of the sea, or something similar.

Also - the Mer's name in French = Sea, or ocean.

Good call. Also, Brave New World, which Marcus quotes, refers to an island and existing underwater -- very Atlantis like. And of course the Aquapolis is an Atlantis replica (sorry to state the obvious).

That's post #1 for me!

Oh, thank you, Yanka (/wave), for the opportunity to spout my favorite theory:

Phillip Gairden, Stone Jeffreys and the Merovingian are the same person:

Jawline, the chin, the nose - all are pretty similar. All three even have a lock of hair on the right side of their head that looks to fall in a similar way (the Wilson image is from the Internet Movie Database).

Don't know where this gets us, but I think it's interesting.

I'm still not sure about Jeffreys and Gairden being the same person, but I think that pic rules out Wilson being either of them. The thing I'm looking at is the ears. The bottom of Wilson's ears seem to be attached while the other two seem more detached. See what I'm getting at, or is it just me?

No, no, I see that, too. Might be just the way the middle picture, especially, is cropped, but I admit, it's a stretch to say they're the same person. I would find it odd that the director of Network Security would mooonlight as editor of a journal devoted to the paranormal....

Could be, however, that we're just meant to make the connection, not that they're the same person in our reality.

On another note, check the pictures of Steven Walsh on the front page of the Metacortechs site, and his picture in the directory. There's no way those are the same person, sorry.

And as far as Trinity=Katherine Cunningham, I could sort of see it if the Cunningham picture is an old publicity shot, taken before Carrie-Anne Moss got a nose job (if she indeed get one, don't follow stuff like that too closely). They have similar cheekbones.

no one has come up with this idea, but couldn't it be that Phillip Gairden and Stones Jeffreys are TWINS? That would explain the fact that Phillip is using the Metadex pre-beta version...his brother might have asked him to test it.

BTW, we should not know anything about SJeffreys so far? His name was just found though some hacking, wasn't it?

The picture of Phillip Gairden has been found in the www.photos.com stock-photo collection, while the picture of Stone Jeffreys looks a little more homemade, so I guess that would make it difficult for them being the same person... but ofcourse Jeffreys could be intentionally made to look like Gairden. I like the idea of them being twins... and that would indeed be a good answer to the question why Gairden would be using Metadex (ofcourse he could have gotten in through Beth as well, but still...).

I also agree with Persephone that it is strange that we do not have more info on Jeffreys at the moment. This means either we have to be patient (Katherine Cunningham is also really introduced just now) or we have to search better Wink

On the Merovingian theory: Apart from the fact the two other pics imho don't really look similar to Mr. Wilson, there seems to be no real connection between the two characters, right?

The Atlantis-theory sounds interesting. The inhabitants of Atlantis were using a for us unknown metal called "orichalcum". The metal was used both as an energysource and as a part of their protective walls.

Also, the city of Atlantis was built in circles, with great canals separating the parts of the city.

Just thought this info might be of use trying to figure out passwords.

Hmm, very interesting... of what I've read and seen about Atlantis, that could indeed very well be related to it.

Ofcourse Aquapolis vs. Atlantis is also pretty obvious... and the project "Labyrinth"... the circles 9999 describes are also sometimes thought of as a huge spiraling labyrinth... could Metacortex be doing something Atlantis related, with The Aquapolis to cover it up??

Also noticed that the SILVIA-files contains to gif's that consists of circles: Silvia.bh.gif and Silvia2.bh.gif.

Quite a longshot connecting those pics with the circular canals of Atlantis, but hey - we're all guessing here, right?

'nother little tidbit, the Labyrinth could also relate to the labyrinth of Minos where the Minotaur was imprisioned. Most scholars beleive this myth was created out of the labyrinthine chambers of the palace at Knossos whose inhabitants worshipped bulls. The Minoan civilization that built these ruins was wiped out at least in part due to the eruption of Mt. Thera. This eruption destroyed most of the island of Thera, once a major trade center. It is considered one of the top candidates for the origin of... you guessed it... of the Atlantis myth.
