I think Maugham was just generally facinated with Hawaii, wrote about it, and even moved there (not sure?); it's been years since I read him. But Wongmo has so many quotes on his site; it's not surprising that he would have quotes from people that shared this fascination with the islands. Gauiguin also comes to mind, although it might have been Fiji or Tahiti that he liked (?). Not sure if these would be clues, though.

yeah, Leokane Pryor on leokane.com is almost the same sort of guy as our Wongmo, but this one seemed real - you can buy his new "maunahele" CD almost everywhere on the net...

That's what I mean. What I'm saying is that the good Dr. the fictional one may have been influenced by the real one. Remember The Matrix has its symbolisms rooted in our real life.

And with Maugham, don't be ready to just dismiss it as "it's just this..." It may be more. With a book called "Of Human Bondage", I don't know, you may be grasping for straws, or you may be onto something very interesting.

Actually, i think that leokane or leo kane may not be a rare word in hawaiian... there's even a leokane street in hawaii (honolulu, i think)

Alright, my whole "I'm pretty sure this has a lot to do with the Metacortex" surity went down. I'm with those that think the only name that's important in Leo Kane's quotes is Wongmo. All the other quotes are just random quotes about Hawaii and can all be found here along with many many other quotes. So no, I don't think there's much importance in it except that they're all quotes dealing with Leo's obsession with Hawaii.

I don't know, you can keep searching these names quoted by Leo Kane. But... well, maybe just grasping for straws.

ps--I apologize for not answering mail and expect to be able to do so once my research here is finished and I'm back home in my very own office.

The second annual Wongmo Retreat for the Spiritually Dehydrated will take place from 11 October through 18 October 2003.

So we can expect Kane's relevant part to happen when he gets back, after the 18th.

DrLeokane has meta names on source of home page...

I tried some of these "a la " dina.thenekodas" but no success, wonder why he misspelled psychiatry? to get more hits?

<meta name="keywords" content="Hawaii, Dealing With Defeat, I'm OK You're So-So, Kane, Leo, Leo Kane, Mental Machinations, Mind of the Master, Other Roads Alternatives to Standard Practice, Phantoms in Therapy, psyciatry, psychotherapy, wongmo.org">

"Of Human Bondage" I saw the movie version of it. Exellent movie with Bette Davis, more info can be found here.
It tells the story of how a woman can destroy a man. I don't think is related to the game, but who knows?

Hey! I remember posting that (yes that was me posting as "anonymous"... forgot to log in). I remember going to the library and actually getting the book and reading it. Very good book. But I also remember writing this:

Crappity. I'm not completely concluded on the idea that the book has any relation to this game. But Sad I doubt it. Oh, well.
