I'm not going to post the site URL, as I think they want that kept a secret, but the FAQ is as follows:
Quote:
· Can I or my friends come along, even if they aren't registered?

Yes. Due to the overwhelming number of people who signed up and have told us that they'd like to come even if they aren't one of the 200 official players, we have decided to allow spectators into the 'base camp'.

The 200 player limit (approx.) for the event refers to the number of players that we can manage for the games. People who are not registered will not be allowed take part in game challenges, or to help other teams. However, we have no problems with you coming along on the day to watch and meet other people interested in Perplex City. However, if the number of people who arrive at the event exceeds the capacity of our venue (approx. 400), then we will have to turn away some people from 'base camp'.

· What size can my team be?

It can range from 4 to 6 players in total. Scores will not be adjusted for team size, so you may prefer to assemble larger teams (then again, they could slow you down!).

· What's 'base camp'?

It's the venue where the 200 registered players will gather at 12pm. When there, we'll tick players off a list and give them a name badge. At around 12:30pm or so, we'll give a talk to everyone explaining how the games work, and then the games will start at 1pm. Most of the tasks and challenges will be taking place around London, but many of them will be within the base camp venue itself.

The venue is in central London, zone 1, on the Central Line. We aren't going to tell you exactly where until shortly before the event, because we know you'll just bug them incessantly for clues and hints.

· What sort of challenges and activities will be taking place?

Physical challenges, puzzles, orienteering, logic and creative. Think of the Krypton Factor, but more fun and with a lower budget.

· How long will the games last for?

The games themselves will last for three hours, from 1pm to 4pm. However, you should arrive at base camp at 12pm in order to receive a name badge and information pack, and it will take a little while to collate everyone's scores and give our prizes at the end. The awards will be over by 5.30pm and people will need to have left the venue by 6pm.

· What should I bring?

A good map of central London will be essential, as will a Zone 1 Travelcard. You might find bringing along a pen and paper very useful.

You won't actually be doing that much travelling on the Underground itself during the game, but it'll be useful for getting to base camp before and after the event. Also bring along an umbrella and clothes that will suit the weather. No doubt some teams will bring along all sorts of gizmos like laptops, GPS devices and binoculars, but they won't do you much good - the most useful thing you can bring along with you is a sharp mind.

· What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes that are suited for the weather. You should also consider having everyone in your team wearing a certain colour or item (like a cap) - not only will it help you identify team members, but it'll look very cool. Seriously.

· What will there be for me to do if I'm not one of the 200 registered players?

At base camp, you'll be able to follow the progress of the teams via a live leaderboard, and also watch teams take part in tasks and challenges. We'll also have some tables set up for trading puzzlecards.

· Can I trade cards at base camp?

Yes, we will have some tables set up for trading cards before and after the actual games.

· Will I be able to purchase any wonderful Perplex City goods?

Yes. We will be selling wonderful Perplex City puzzle cards and starter kits, as well as wonderful t-shirts and possibly other similarly wonderful merchandise.

· Will any food or drink be available at base camp?

No. We suggest you buy some beforehand, and bring along a lot of water.

· Are there toilets at base camp?

Yes.

· Will there be any social activities afterwards?

Mind Candy and the PCAG will not be formally organising or funding any social activities following the games. However, we are aware that players will want to get a drink somewhere afterwards, and so at the closing presentation we will advise all players about possible places to go to. If you are organising a social activity or going to a certain place that you would like other players to come along to, please email us at londoneventSPLATperplexcityacademygames.com..

Central Line, Zone 1. Must be in the City.

I'll try and find a bar/pub which can cater for 150 for the Saturday night.

so the email announcing the sign-up is as follows:
Quote:
ear Player,

Sorry for the delay in opening registration for the London event.

Please head over to Censored in order to register your team
or enter yourself into the random pool. If you are a team member, you should
prompt your team leader to do this now. On the site, you will find lots of
information about the event including answers to many of the questions we have
been asked.

Best regards.

I'm thinking of booking a couple of rooms in Samuel Smith pubs on great Portland Street for the evening. The reasons being:

1) Close to Oxford Street tube, on the central line so no more than ten mins tube journey where ever the 'base camp' is-probably the city.

2) We will have more than enough space as there are few within walking distance of each other

3) They're reasonably nice in a Dickensian sort of a way

4) Pints cost £1.90

5) Close to Soho/West end if people want to go on somewhere afterwards

6) You will have the opportunity not to be in the same room as Oliver Keers

Does this sound like a good idea or not? If people think it does I'll sort it out on Friday.

To: patrick.azadianSPLATperplexcityacademy.com
instead of my email address

EDIT : sounds good Chris...not that I know London very well so don't know the actual pubs, but the idea sounds good. Would be nice to have somewhere to meet unfiction people for those who can't make it to the brunchfest but can stay on for a bit afterwards

I think the extra e-mail is there for two reasons, one it ties in the PCAG team, and second (having sent an email off in query) the london event address has an auto reply stating the event is shut, so I think Wishi San will be there for queries etc. (I hope).

I know exactly how you feel, I'm bouncing around at the moment. Then again, I did just eat a fair amount of a friend's beautifully made chocolate cake.

Considering TINAG, I would say that Mr Azadian is on the email just to make sure that the Academy/Sente are aware of MC's delay and how they're handling it (including the eventual resolution). Also, it's a great way to check that the email sent correctly.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Cheers,
