A bit of info....
It's a short story by Bryan Alexander that leads up to or will be used by his presentations on ARGs at a conference in San Diego next week.

I was going to point out two random things.
One: My name is Caleb...so weird coincidences are now...here...perhaps (as you can see, my lack of sleep is here as well)
and Two: Navidson is the main character in The House of Leaves

So, I attended Bryan Alexander's presentation and have begun the Caleb Navidson ARG. Is there a forum already set up? How do I find it? How do forums begin?
Thanks for a newbie.

You're already in it. Right now, this thread is where you can discuss anything you want in the game. If it continues to grow, it'll eventually be moved to Potential ARGs and then possible to it's own forum.

I've started my own blog where I am documenting puzzles solved and unsolved. Among the unsolved I've notice a few references to "<3" including in the signature from the post by rowan72. Can you explain?

farquhj the "<3" is part of a public encryption scheme known as ASCII ART. If you are trying to crack this advanced puzzle, it may help to have some of the other pieces, see below:
<3
-`-,-<@
()___)_____)#~~~
( .)( .)
Also, some clues that may help with this puzzle:
!H8
by any other name...
not as cool as it used to be
why boys go to college
Hope this helps with your puzzle :)

Yes, that did help. I _think_ hearts are being used throughout the game which brings me to another question from a newbie. Once you start playing these games, is it common to be caught up in conspiracy thinking? I've been in a shop recently that had Valentine's stuff displayed and I immediately began thinking that they might be in on this game.

What do you mean? They are in on it. Everyone is in on it!
Yeah, I think it's somewhat typical to engage in some conspiracy thinking. Especially during your first game or one where you're highly immersed and looking for patterns. But, it still happens to me occasionally and I've been around for almost 5 years now.
Last fall, I was pretty active in the Last Call Poker game. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I travelled to a couple different Tombstone Poker Tournaments. When I arrived in New York, as I passed the line up of drivers holding out name cards, I noticed that one had the last name of an in game character. I'll admit it, I did a double take and, for a brief second, wondered if someone could have known my flight info. I love that. It was just some completely random driver with a completely random name on a card, yet I was so much more aware of my surroundings that it made me think.

All the literary references means I can't help but give this whirl...
Working from the records kept on farquhj's blog (which was very helpful) I figured out what was going on with the strange line breaks on main.html(which have since been replaced).
Where to go from there, I'll think some more about after dinner.
