That's a great idea. I was thinking along the same lines, but feel we would need to know what Quinton's star (futures) sign was, in order to get the right one, when told the Gyvan versions. His space on the roster gives no indication of his birth date...

I've also sent a note to Sister Flynnt, replying to the auto reply I got the last time I tried her as a route (I'm hoping they'll take pity on me for that). Both mails have been based on the background of wanting to understand more of the faith, here's what I sent this time:

Quote:
Dear Sister Flynnt

I am sure you are busy, and apologise for contacting you through this medium again, however it is the only route available to those of us on Earth.

We are still desperate to understand more about the faith, and any information you can provide. The history of Gyvann The Builder would be a good starting point, so we can gain some depth of understanding through his story.

We don't have access to any of the books you recommend, so it seems you are our only hope.

Yours
Tesseract

???

Is it just me, or has Cyrus Quinton vanished from the file system?

I'm looking in users/production, which should be the right place, and I can't find him on either page...

If it is just me, could someone provide a direct link to the pdf?

He is on the third page of production. You have to click "Forward" twice.

to be fair, considering he has left the company, he should have been removed from the system. Leaving an old employees account open is a big security hole, and they seem very concerned about security there. Thankfully, for an advanced and lateral thinking society, they seem pretty dumb at times making our job easier Smile

Hi guys. I'm new here so firstly, hello. Smile

Secondly, there's also a memo on the filesystem saying that Helix is looking for a designer to redo the office decor. Wouldn't this be an ideal opportunity to sneak someone in to do some snooping around, particularly in Office 209 under the pretext of... um... "designing"? (or whatever it is designers do!)

Not sure who though. Just thought I'd mention it as no-one else has yet, I don't think. Apologies if someone has and I missed it!

Have we taken into consideration the strange wording of the clue? I think, while we may be looking for all the information it implies (a star, Futures, followers, special names, etc.), the password itself is likely to be something else.

Quote:
enter those who know what the builder called men under my star

Who are "those who know?" Brotherhood? 3P? Obviously those have been tried already. But once we know what the clue means specifically, I think we should be looking for the answer to "those who know" rather than the name of the builder, the name of a star, or the name of people under that star.

EDIT: Or another thought. It could mean "Enter, those who know, what the builder called men under my star." Laughing In which case we are looking for the name of the men under his star. Hm... punctuation issue.

On the subject of star signs, this website may be of some use:

http://www.star-sign.com/taurus.html#continue

In brief it says (but with a lot more info):

Quote:
Taurus (THE BULL) is the sign of the builder, and the earth we stand on

Maybe its something to do with this? Just a thought...

Dan

Edit: more info...

Quote:
Builder of the Zodiac, Taurus is ruled by VENUS, and its symbol is the BULL. Its natural place is the SECOND HOUSE, the house of Possessions. Productive Taurus is an EARTH sign, reliable and materialistic. With a fine aesthetic sense and stubborn will to have things its own way, Taurus invariably surrounds itself with material beauty -- be it artistic or natural.

Quote:
Cancer - Known as the nest builder of the zodiac

I think that is the more important part here. Did someone already try "Taurus" "Bull" and other variations? I'm much too tired to think, so I'll take a crack at it in the morning

I decide to spend a day away from the computer and look what happens! Sister Flynnt is a good idea, but there is one person who would want to help us, and may provide us with some information... VIOLET! She has access to hundreds of books and documents, and she can provide access codes for them! I've just wrote this email:

Quote:
Dear Violet,

A few weeks ago I asked if you could possibly provide some library codes so I could look into Perplexian history. I am here to request again your assistance in this matter.

As you are aware, Cyrus Quinton was the sound engineer who worked on the Viard album. In order to clear Kurt's good name, we need to gain access to his files on the Hesh intranet. All he has left is some cryptic clues to find out the password.

"enter those who know what the builder called men under my star" is the main clue he has left.

We think it may have something to do with the history of Gyvann The Builder. Would it be at all possible that you could recommend some books and give us access codes? We don't expect you to look through the information, you're busy enough as it is, but we would be perfectly willing to search through any documents/books that you can recommend.

Please Violet, do it for Kurt.

Jo

Here's hoping, perhaps if a few others mail her with the same sort of message, she'll get the hint and post some access codes on her blog.

Library access codes?

I hope you don't mean the Academy library - that thing is hardcoded not to let us in. Earth books, maybe Smile But then why would Violet know anything about Earth books?

Of course I mean the academy library! Rolling Eyes

Just because its hardcoded now, doesn't mean it will be permanently. What's the point in setting up that nice little part of the site with no plans for use? It's got to happen at some point, seems like a good time.

Besides, Violet's got brains, she might have a better idea then us anyway. She may have read about Gyvann before. Very Happy

ANYTHING IS WORTH TRYING!

Hi everyone,

I've just posted this email to Violet based on the things other people have discussed and my own ideas. I thought she might like a new Word for her site too Smile The more people who email her with this suggestion (the "access to the library" one, not the word!), the more likely she might be to act on it, surely? We can hope...

Quote:
Dear Violet,

I'm one of the (many!) Cube Hunters assisting you guys with the search for the Cube here on Earth and at the moment we're frantically trying to get into Hesh Records' internal filesystem in order to discover anything we can about Cyrus Quinton, the engineer on the Viard CD which was sent to Earth and got Kurt into his present mess.

The clue we have deciphered from the one file in Cyrus' filestore is "enter those who know what the builder called men under my star". There are a number of theories floating around about this, mainly pertaining to Perplexian Futures signs and Gyvan the Builder.

A number of us are keen to research this using the resources available in Perplex City - obviously, here on Earth the only information we have on your Futures and Gyvan is what you have told us and what comes to us via the websites we can access. Would it be possible for you to recommend some books we might find helpful? We are more than happy to trawl through this information for ourselves as we know you're very busy. Alternatively, if you know anything about Gyvan the builder and if there was one of your Futures signs relating specifically to him, please let us know. We have a star sign (our equivalent of your Futures) called Taurus which is a bull, but is sometimes referred to as "the builder" - perhaps you have an equivalent?

On a side note, I notice you haven't done a new Word for ages - with that in mind, how about this?

Floccinaucinihilipilification - "the act of estimating as worthless", as in, "Violet scoured the information in the book but quickly floccinaucinihilipilificated it since there did not appear to be anything of any use."

I hope you can help us, Violet. We're very keen to get poor Kurt out of the mess we have got him into.

Thanks,

Pete
(aka Angry Jedi)

AJ
