Hello,

I'm new here but I've played a couple of ARGs through Immersion Unlimited before. I've tried registering for an account but the verification e-mail's yet to go through..

Anyway, I received this e-mail this morning:

Tigerdirect.com seems to be a commercial site, but this doesn't feel like spam.. I've got some incredibly heavy-duty spam protection going on the e-mail account that received this, and I fail to see the ad in that.

Thoughts, anyone?

Amateur. You probably wrote it yourself.

But if you didnt, then just send an email back. That makes no sense. Might do if you sit there and try to make sentances, but it doesnt look worth bothering with.

I'm 99.99% sure it's spam. Did it have an attachment?

I recently got spam-mail for which the text was:

Quote:
prison is fire
drew reply side
mischievous fire happened
bad pretty anybody.
again reading whom or few pretty,
respect we least
out why how.
news did evening.
development shining
sugar rich pride

already suddenly nothing evening.

I've gotten several like this. When I'm high on lack of sleep, I find they have an almost Zen-like purity. It's like magnetic poetry!

With, y'know, SPAM.

I'd quite like to conduct a short poll to ascertain how many people that receive spam have actually eaten it. I would also like to subdivide these into those that have consumed a spam fritter, which is possible the most delicious use of revolting meat product that I have ever come across. Other than the corned beef and pickle sandwich.

Ok remember those random emails people were getting with like one word subjects and one word in the content, well I got one. Altho, it was sent to an amail account i set up last week, and the only website I put this address on is monster.co.uk (UK job application thingy)

These emails are definitely spam. No question about it

I thought this was spam, but it's so odd that I figured I might as well pass it along.

Of course, if it were something I have no idea what you could make out of PUNCTUATION, but who knows?

In any case, I know it's relatively easy to pull off masking your email address, and I've had unknown senders before, but a name with no address is new to me. How do you do that, anyway?

It looks like the address is spoofed, but I seem to remember something along the lines of there having to be a valid domain in the address when we were spoofing e-mails for the Mu trail (I don't think they were going out to gmail, though) Confused

Heh, all of that punctuation reminds me of Moot speak.

I bet it's just spam, then.

Or maybe Moot is attempting to contact us from the dead. That would be sweet.

How about that, eh? Spam for the site that was inserted many times? Or something more.

I looked at the site and it seeems to be some kind of Japanese dating site. Lookfor yourself.

This is beginning to REALLY grate on my nerves.

"Probly spam", yes, probably 100% nothing but spam. So why post it here, in its entirety? You've just made their job easier by spamming us all. "You guys can dissect these things," sure, and so can you.

No, we do not have to look for ourselves. Geeze, once again, you've encouraged the very activity which the spammers LOVE. If i were a moderator on this forum, I would delete the URLs from that post.

I can be open-minded about a possible trailhead, but my mind is not so open that my brains fall out. If any trailhead ever starts with anything that people might remotely sense is spam, they deserve to be ignored.

*ignores above hostilities*

Since we're on the subject of one-worded messages, I got this a big ago:

Quote:
tap your toesx: job

I got that on AIM. When I came back to my computer, whoever it was had signed off.

Now, that doesn't seem like much of an ARG screenname; more like someone you meet off of Myspace, but the message itself has me wondering. Any insight for my rusty ARGing self?
