Just for completeness, this implies that the futures are based on actual people, probably the 12 disciples of Gyvan (sounds familiar!!), rather than the constallations as they are here on Earth.

So which one is Judas then?

I haven't had a chance to listen to the MP3, but I will as soon as possible. If it's as brutal as everyone says, then I think I need to hear this before I get scared.

but I feel more and more manipulated by the 3P

I know exactly what you mean. I hate being manipulated, but I think we just need to play along for a little bit to keep them interested. What we need to find is the line between manipulated and manipulator and blur it a little bit.

[random spec] What if V is like...2 people? Maybe he got replaced? I don't think it's very likely, but I thought I'd put it out there. It popped into my head while I was reading all of the new spec.

Spray stuff: What if it was some kind of a stun gas to reduce resistance? Knocks her out a little, or at least weakens her and then has a little more "play time", just to get some extra beatings.[/random spec]

This may have been mentioned before, but I can't find it (if so I happily accept a trout in advance!!).

11/11/259 Cyrus joins Hesh from the Wiki

01/10/268 (2005) Cyrus leaves Hesh (same link as above)

27/10/268 The Council bans the record in Perplex City from the Wiki here.

3/11/268 Hesh announces that the Viard album will be released on Earth (same link as above).

According to this timeline, Cyrus could not have added the message for Earth, he could only have meant for it to be received in PPC.

[spec]I'm not sure what this means with regards to Gillet Road, but this would mean that his private file would probably have been discovered by someone following the trail in PPC, and it would therefore have implicated us in the murder, not I think the third power[/spec]

Mima your timeline only makes me more convinced that something is amiss here.

[TIAG]Bloody... hell... This is reminding me why I'm spending so much of my life following Perplex City. I've just fallen down the rabbit hole all over again and it's great. [/TIAG]

I think I'm fairly happy that Cyrus is V from the track title etc. It would appear that V is not a proficient killer (did he mean to kill her at all?)

My "Pulp Fiction" sense is tingling the whole feel of the recording is very Tarantino: the music, Cyrus' role as the 'bringer of justice' reminds me of Jules' "I am the Lord, my vengeance shall rain down..." speech. The reference to the 'clean up' crew too. *sighs happily and makes a note to watch the film this evening*

I also like the pointing finger of incrimination at us earthies! Not a threat, as far as I can tell, more a "see what's going to happen if you lot insist on sticking your noses in?"

Holy crap. That was freaky beyond belief. I was actually quite distressed listening to that. A sick but fantastic touch was having some of our names as the composers. I felt physically sick when I read my name.
The phonecall at the end to me suggested that someone who works at ascendancy point was in on it, alerting them (presumably) to Sylvia's presence, but I may be wrong on that.

I'm pretty sure the 3P are playing us like a multi-stringed fiddle. Or possibly some kind of harp...... for the first time I'm glad I wasn't at Clapham Confused

I've not totally made my mind up, but I don't think Cyrus is V. When I heard the recording I thought that maybe V had sent it as a warning to Cyrus. My favourite theory though was that Cyrus had a lower down position in the plan and then decided it was all wrong [his argument with someone at the Academy - V is supposed to work there] and tried to undo his part in it by giving us clues to help retrieve the cube [the message on the cd which ultimately lead to the discovery of the murder mp3].

But if it couldn't have been him that put the message on the CD according to the timeline, it does seem like Cyrus and us have been set up by the 3P/V just to find a recording of Monica's murder, just to threaten/frighten us? But then, why go to all that trouble just to tell us they mean business? Although they do seem to like doing things the long way round in PXC... Unless he put the message on before he left Hesh, perhaps encoding it somehow so it wouldn't play on keys, or something? Ooh, my head Confused

Have we emailed Kurt and Violet? I think they need to know everything so they can be careful... I think it's probably worth telling them about the possibility that we might be framed, as if it happens we don't want them suspecting us so that we end up losing our PXC contacts...

Really, I thought it would indicate a lookout.

Ahh, that works too. I thought that mostly because of the 90 seconds estimation, as though the person was familiar with the building enough to know that. But yeah, it could have been anyone.

Not sure if this is important, but I noticed that "insert.mp3" doesn't contain the morse code bit at the end of it (which translated to something like "3p communications network compromised").

Originally many of us suspected that the talking was just a distraction from the REAL message which was the morse code. Obviously that wasn't completely true. I think what's interesting here though is that if the morse code wasn't part of what Cyrus added then there was ANOTHER PERSON who changed the album before it was reproduced here.

Unfortunately my head is spinning from all the possibilities at this point. I agree that we should tell Kurt and Violet everything we've discovered so they can form their own conclusions.

I have no clue what to tell them to do next though. Helena just doesn't feel right.

Oh, and that timeline... Cyrus was working for Hesh for 9 YEARS and Kurt can't find any record of his existance???!!! That certainly sounds like a powerful cover-up.

It could have been either really - Monica was obviously under observation. The fact that V rocked up and killed her, clearly knowing all about her discourse with Pietro is the big giveaway there, but we also have -

Monica Grand wrote:
Don't try to play these games with me. Dark-skinned man, knew how to handle himself, sitting in a leather armchair near to the cluster of birch trees. Arrived about 20 minutes before you, took up a place where he had a perfect view of the proceedings, pretended to be reading the newspaper. Don't think I can't spot another professional.

This from the mail where she *nearly* met Pietro, but got spooked and scared off....and...call me a nutjob if you will, but the first person's name that screamed out at me from that description? Garnet Reed. Entirely, utterly, totally speculative. But it's what jumped out at me.

J

Edit: Oh, uh, yes. (Sorta META-ish - a *genius* stroke...the next person who needs a good solid TINAG reminder is going to get a linky to that file. From the moment when I fired it up...heard "Level 157" and suddenly realised "Oh my....Monica's floor, Ascendancy Point"...my blood ran cold.

The whole thing was just gruesome and thoroughly chilling - even moreso when the inevitable thought ran through my head - as I'm sure it did for many of the rest of us - "We were responsible for this". I was still reeling from that, when I came back here to read the remainder of the thread, only to find that V had actually placed our names on the track information, as a final twist of the knife. Every time I think about it, I'm *still* coming up in goosebumps.

It's things like *this* which make ARGs so damned enticing and absorbing. Thanks. )

Totallly agree with you Juxta. Garnet is the newspaper man, after all. But how would he have found out about this before-hand? And know the location well enough to set up 20 minutes before? Seems a little strange to me. I don't think he would be with them, but you never can tell with some people.

Most pressingly: why oh why would a crack team of thieves include a music producer and a financial advisor?

And why was a 20-30-something financial advisor a weapons expert? They sure are a multi-talented bunch in Perplex City.

Their covers? How could they move in society if their real professions were known?

I once again turn to Alias: Sydney Bristow was a 20-30 something CIA agent (at least she thought she worked for them) with a cover job as a financial analyst at a large international bank. Provides plenty of reason to be travelling a lot and with the proper support network she really didn't need to do her cover job much. Of course in the show the whole bank was a front for the espionage agency, but that's besides the point.

A financial advisor is the perfect cover for a weapons expert, they are generally percieved as uninteresting people, and therefore are often overlooked. They have plenty of opportunity to travel out of town (where would she be using/storing those weapons?) without arousing suspicion.

I don't think Cyrus is V. We know that V has a position in the Academy which allows him to indulge his kink. It also makes no sense for V to put that info on an album for release in Perplex City. If it was intended for Earth, then I could belive it was to set up Frye.
