O, and I neglected to mention, that 144 is also known as a gross, or "fat dozen," though I'm not sure that's helpful.

And I mentioned in a previous leiphe thread that I thought Leiphe might be a modern Greek word relating to "leaving," since the old Koine Greek leipo means "to leave."

Hope that helps.

hmm...did anybody else notice this?

Quote:
Little did Fiona know that the divorce, painful as it was, would be the event that most dramatically changed her life. She began offering her services as a by-now-experienced journal writer to others from her small home and was so successful simply by word of mouth that she was able to return to school and earn her PhD in 1983.

PhD?! uhm, let's look at the facts she gives us...

-born 1953

-orphaned 1960, when she was 7(hmm, close to the age of our paintover girl) - also note that another term for an orphan is an URCHIN, also note the connection between the girl and lessons, and leiphe and lessons, and leiphe being an orphan/urchin

-she was in the orphanage till 1969(heh) when she ran away at age 16
Quote:
Fiona was sent to an orphanage where she spent the next nine years suffering unspeakable abuse at the hands of a corrupt administration staff.

-she does the waitress thing, meets a trucker Confused and marries him in 1973, at age 20...i'm thinking she hasn't had much time for education in this first 20 years....

-she ends up having 4(!) kids in 6 years(yikes!), then gets divorced, at age 26...so can we really believe in all that sea of pregnancy and screaming brats and a trucker that was probably never there that she had time for education? probably not...which brings me to my point:

-she goes to school at some point in/after '79, and comes out with a PhD in...4 years? i doubt it...she can't be THAT smart....she married a trucker..

so what's up? if she's gonna lie about her credentials why try to say she got her phd in 4 years...i don't think that's really possible given the childhood, the busy parenthood, and the lack of judgement Razz

any dissent?

If we take into account Beth is a 20 something, and Leiphe had 4 kids from 1973 - 1979, then she could well be her daughter. Marcus Ormond howver was born on April 22, 1939, and is way too old.

PhD's do not mean much, unless you know they are from an accredited school. I can have a PhD in a week from a "diploma mill" type of place (I bet you get the spam, too!). She very conveniently does not mention the school or area of study.

She does seem like the kind of person who would attend classes at a shady school and get degree of questionable value.

I see the lessons page as basically a copy of all the journaling memes that are out there - like the Friday Five, etc...

Also, I imagine Leiphe to be pronounced "Life", creating "life lessons", a "life map", etc...

Personally, I think that if Leiphe is pronounced "life" then a cheesy hack job type person like Fiona would make it "Leiphe lessons" "Leiphe map". That just seems like what a website of this sort would do.
