Dunno if there's anything in that... it's just one lolgical extension too far for me to bridge without a bit of evidence. Uncanny how it fits though... Smile

If it'd been released on the 22nd, or if we'd seen a quote or a reference I'd jump right on the bandwagon to sing your praises, Jeromy... as it stands tho, I'm going to hold off to see if nothing else surfaces.

Cool

Have we tried "control", or variations thereof as a pwd? Big theme in BNW...?

I tried Summer, Swan, the main characters names, Tennyson (the title comes from a poem) and so far nothing. Hmmmmm.

This is my first time contributing and I finally have something worthwhile Very Happy

Thinking outside of the square a bit I decided that the 64 reference might apply to the Base64 converter that I spotted here:
http://www.wc.cc.va.us/dtod/base64/default.asp

After entering a number of different passwords I finally entered "MLO" into the box (without the quotes) and hit the encode button, and voila - the answer.

I still can't believe the password was so simple (after figuring the base64 reference). It now opens up some new leads on the missing people.

For those wanting to try this at home, uppercase yields a different result from lowercase when doing base64 conversion.

I have a suggestion: as this thread is already long enough, let's make a separate thread to discuss what we find in his metadex.

Again, thanks... uh... guest LokiNZ!!!!

I salute you

LokiNZ, the burden you've just lifted is palpable for me. An ever-increasing proportion of my conscious thoughts were being taken up by to figure out mlo's password. It was getting to the point where it was getting difficult to think about anything else.

Your solution is simple and elegant, pure genius really, and excellent lateral thinking. For those of you who can't be bothered to use the base64 converter yourself, entering MLO and encoding it gives:

Anyhow, LokiNZ, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll refrain from writing anything about what can be found in mlo's metadex ... that honor should go to you, LokiNZ.

Yes, I originally tried it as lowercase, which didn't work. Then tried it all in caps and it did work. I thought I would never figure anything out till now.

Gosh thanks for the response - I'm really feeling the love right now Laughing

Genius. You know I'm not that compu-saavy and a thought about 64bit seemed to be rolling around in my head for days but I wasn't bright enough to know what to do with it. I thought I was remembering Intellivision or something... Embarassed
Great Loki!! You should post your solution in the puzzles forum!!
