no numbers/letters under silver scratch off bit

hey guys, im having great fun trying to solve all these cards - and failing miserably so logging in here to copy your answers!!
I have most cards now but i just scratched off the silver bit at the top which should reveal a unique number/letter set to find there was nothing there!!!
has this happened to anyone before - is this card worth a lot of money for being so unique or am i just being hopeful!?

Kie-Yeo - this is unusual, but not unheard of - I believe that someone else contacted CardsSPLATPerplexcity.com with a similar problem and they issued a replacement. You will of course need to give them the blank one back Wink

For anyone who wants help working out this puzzle, I made a little WindowsXP application that you'll find really useful: here. Download, unzip and run the "slide.exe". It can save a history of moves in the format the PC web site accepts. No more having to make long lists of moves or forgetting how you got your solution!

Like the new program skizz although no idea how I would ever have figured out the final solve.

Thanks to cronogenesis

Tried a solver program online, it did the solve in 188 moves!

I used Taniguchi Yukio's sliding block puzzle solver and it got a solution in 44 moves too (After 5 days solid number-crunching), however it was a different 44 moves!

http://homepage2.nifty.com/yuki-tani/index_e.html

Could someone run this through as a solve on the Perplex City site and post here if it works or not?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
14 11 12 8 7 6 10 12 8 7 4 3 6 4 7 14 11 8 4 10 5 9 12 4 8 15 13 12 4 8 14 11 15 14 10 6 2 5 9 4 8 9 5 1

Plenty much thankyou to anyone who will check, because I used Cronogenesis' solve and can't redo it... Sad

Asked card support about it, they said this:

Quote:
Thanks for your email. We can't tell you what solutions our system accepts,
but we can tell you it accepts multiple solutions for this card. We do
occationally update our system if a player discovers a new, legitimate
solution, but there may be a delay between finding out about the solution and
it appearing in our system.

Looking for a hint, if anyone's still listening

Are any solvers of this puzzle still reading? I'd like to know how you went about solving it. Did anyone solve it by just understanding the puzzle well enough to be able to do it manually? If so, can you explain your thought process? Or, did everyone who solved the puzzle do so with computing power?

Thanks in advance!

Why is there a solution, if it's insoluble, like I read in wikipedia? Shouldn't we win the $1000 prize Confused

They aren't asking you to swap two squares over, they actually state on the card it would be unfair to do so seeing how impossible it is. What they want you to do is change the arrangement to another allowable configuration in the shortest number of moves.
