From Tally's morse code, I think the first line could be: NOT SET
Haven't got the time to look at the rest now, will continue later.

That was the bit I had thought could conceivably be NOT SAFE last night.

Okay, just looked at it again and got

"NOTSETFTATATETMUSTMTHEOSLIERSTETC
YHOERNTEINKLIWSTHTSI6UIERTLANNMSUS
EEHANYDUSEEENWHGNOANUEUUASEEUUEE"

The only things that make any sense were...

"NOT SET"

"TATE"

"MUST"

"THE"

"SEEN"

Again... not much

Hi guys...had a fantastic time, sorry missed the pub, but next time you'll all have to come further north than the M25!

I'm not sure whether it was good to put faces to names, you were all a lot more gorgeous in my head! Cheers James, Chris, Simon, Criag (cheque's in the post honest Peer!) and someone, please put a leash on Ollie! Also Mima, Robyn...fantastic! Mugs in the post (when I have lots of bubble-wrap).

Took a short (1 min) video of the right hand morse code (I think that the left might have been different; but the left seemed to be a more practised flasher, so it's hard to tell). The resolution is not good and it's hard to make out flashes and gaps...can someone recommend somewhere to post it?

In translating I would bear in mind that the gaps between letters, were not clear and that dots and dashes may have frameshifted. The message didn't really seem to be repeated, but this might be due to changes in rhythm. Do we need to combine left and right?

Reason has a copy of the left, as said above, but if it's beer spattered, I can rub a pencil over my pad and reveal magically as inspired by the Usborne book of Spies and Spying (which also suggested that colouring your hair with talcum powder would make you look older and grey-haired, rather than dusty)

Will add my pics to flickr and link in a bit.

Tally, you said that

the transcript lines are NOT in order.

Can you tell us more about how the lines were created and how they relate together? Were they written down by one person or several? (i.e. could they overlap?) Were they separated by pauses in the message (i.e. words shouldn't be split up on 2 lines)? Is there a possibility that some bits are missing between lines?

Hello to everyone, this is my fist posting so I apologise if I make any glaring forum etiquette blunders.

Firstly I like to say a huge THANK YOU to Mind Candy for organising yesterdays event. I've never taken part in anything like that before, and it was an all round excellent day.

Secondly I'd also like to point out that everyone on my team felt very lucky to have secured a place at the games. I personally felt privileged to get a chance to compete along some of the players from the top of the Perplexcity leader board.

I was a member of The Puzzle Monkeys and we were gobsmacked to win the games. I'd just like to credit my other team members as they were all fantastic, and after a bit of a rocky start we all worked together very well.

The Team members are:
Deadly Zoidberg (Me): http://www.perplexcity.com/profile/view.qbuild?player=Deadly%20Zoidberg

Aplhatrion: http://www.perplexcity.com/profile/view.qbuild?player=Alphatrion

We're not quite sure how we did it either!!! Our aim for the day was not to come last, and anything above that would have been a bonus.
I think because we were so keen to not come last we just tried to rack up the points as quick as we could. None of us could beleive it when we got the first leader board text telling us we were in first place.

We all had an amazing and thoroughly knackering day. Congratulations to everyone else who took part. (thanks especially to all the volunteers on the day).

The crystal cube trophies we all received are very cool, and I will try and post a picture later today, as most people will not have gotten a close look at them. They are very cool and will always be a reminder of a great day.

I hope to see you all at the next event.

Zoidberg.

This is only half the conversation though isnt it? Assuming that most of it is correct (although in the wrong order) we could be looking at sms "speak" to save time on the morse. or that the alot of acronyms were used instead of full words. As the winners were "listening in" on this its assumed the two people talking know what they are on about and wouldn't need to use full wording to get the message across.

Me again,

Just found this picture posted by someone else on Flickr:

I'm the big guy at the front, standing in awe of Adrian Hon.
Dont mean to sound like a sap, but what an honour to meet him! Director of play for Mind Candy and also co-creator of a NASA Website!

p.s. just a general etiqiette question, it is better just to add external links to images or actually include the image in your post so it appears on the forum page?

I dont really think the morse code was a conversation, considering they were both shining th lights up to the capsules..they werent communicating with one another. I could be wrong but i think there were 2 incase we missed the first

I think that what is a stronger indication of the morse not being a conversation was that the two were flashing simultaeneously, so couldn't have been talking with each other.

An anonymous source sent people to the London Eye, so it was pretty clear that the message was aimed at us making it pretty unlikely for a conversation.

Everyone needs to forget about New York for a few days and do something in Boston. I hate New York. They always get all the attention
