[UPDATE] Anna Heath's Personal Site (06/03/06)

Constant reminders
Monday, 5th March 2006
Sunday morning, my boys were scrawling upon their boiled eggs with coloured pencils while waiting for them to cool. I asked what they were making, and Otto pronounced that the eggs were now hideous farvelfengs from the Collected True and Accurate Tales of Beasts Exotic and Dire, by one S.A. Wetherby (said farvelfengs to be slain in the fullness of time by righteous spoon, of course). Isaac had lent them his own copy of the Collected Tales in mid-December, and it's been one of their fast favourites ever since.
The pair roared on about how fierce their farvelfengs were, even asking me to rule on which one was the more frightening. Then Pip looked at me with his big, sad eyes, and said, "I miss Uncle Isaac, mummy."
I've been trying to probe the police department for more information, but thus far they barely return my calls. This isn't getting me anywhere, there has to be a better way.
(edit: added date to title. GuyP)

Have we emailed Kurt to ask if we can try and get him to get a login from Helena?
EDIT:
Done and Done
Have asked if there is any chance he might be able to recruit some information from Helena as they are now such good buddies (although with less sarcasm obviously!)

Any point in contacting Anna about that book? It seems to be one of the only personal possessions of Isaac we may have indirect contact with. Perhaps he leant to book to them for a reason, I.e. knowing something was coming?
Long shot I know but might be worth expolring? Has anyone actually had a non automated response from Anna's email address yet?

You mean the "Collected Tales" book, right? I don't think so - if you had information that might put you in danger would you hide it with your close friend's young children and possibly shift the danger onto them? I wouldn't, but then again I'm not Cymbalisty. Is he the sort of character who might do that?
Equally, if there was a message hidden in it wouldn't you rather send it to someone with enough autonomy to do something about it?

The book small geezer is referring to I think is Granier's Diary (although the collected tales sounds quite good)...see Violet's blog entries (three or four back). We never got the last section and Cymbalisty had it as he was helping Violet translate the long words.

Yes, I wrote to Violet and Anna a couple of days ago trying to prompt them into asking the museum if the diary pages had been returned yet. Autoresponders only and now it looks like Anna is more interested in getting into the police files at the moment.
SmallGeezer was talking about "personal possessions of Isaac" though I guess I'll wait for him to clarify.

Yeah I was referring to the Collected Tales book. I missed the part where Cymbalisty helped Violet Access the Diary, so I'm not sure, but seeing as we don't have access to anything else of his, I thought the Collected Tales book my be hiding something?
Cymbalisty might have known the last page was important, so hid something from it or evidence of it somewhere else for someone (Anna) to find?
Long shot I know, but in case the police have destroyed all evidence of the last page?

It's an interesting idea but it doesn't really fit the chronology:
Anna says
Quote:
Isaac had lent them his own copy of the Collected Tales in mid-December.
If you check Quirky Acuity's archives, in mid-December Violet is getting resigned to the idea of working with Cymbalisty on the diaries, but they haven't started yet. The work on the manuscript starts on the 4th of January. So unless he had reasons of his own to suspect foul play in mid-December (not to mention free access to the diaries, which he might have had), I don't see him hiding anything related to the diaries there.
But of course, he could have had a past that, though not connected to the diary, might be connected to his death and him hiding something in the book, who knows? Doesn't hurt to check, if Anna's willing...

I was thinking the same thing, but if he knew how to go about accessing the info on the diary, perhaps that side of the information could be hidden in the book, rather than the actual findings?

I don't think the diary was encoded in any way - I think Violet just needed his help because it was old. Compare modern-day English to Shakespeare or Chaucer...
Considering we have no other info to go on than nobody expected to commit suicide (as Kurt rightly pointed out recently) I would think Anna should go digging into anything she can to find a solid basis for her suspicions, if she wants to convince Kurt to help.
