[VFE Idea] Collaboration: Guardian Angels, et al. Okay, as we know there's been a rash of crimes committed in Perplex City.
What I was thinking is that we might want to work on a View from Earth column talking about the various groups on Earth that help the police out with that sort of thing (covering areas the police can't or won't, keeping an eye out for suspicious persons, et al) - groups like Neighborhood Watch or the Guardian Angels.
So, what do you guys think of that?

I'm up for it. We could also go into rebel groups who actually defy the police, but for the greater good?

I remember that there was a couple of sketches on 'Tigger Happy TV' about the Guardian Angels.
On the London Tube and at Bus Stops ect.
Guardian Angel: This bus stop is now under the protection of the Guardian Angels. DOES ANYONE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!!!
This was pre 9/11 of course.

OK, just to throw in my $0.02 and weigh in on the side to the GA...
The Guardian Angels Motorcycle Club (GAMCC) are a group of bikers who decided that they had seen way too much violent crime in, on and around certain areas (mainly the London public transport system), and the police were too scared to do anything about it. They got together and started making overnight patrols on the Underground, then spread to buses as their numbers grew. They are mainly non-violent unless there is need (e.g. to beat down a mugger). They were unofficially endorsed by the London Met Police due to the fact that the police had no sway in those areas and they (the GAMCC) were keeping down the crime rates (to an extent).

This is now particularly relevant, now that we know Perplex City have a volunteer police force as well.

But the berets? If you are going to start a vigilante groups at least do it in decent gear. They look like they're going for a Friday night out in Vauxhall.

Don't knock berets - a lot of military units use them (at least, when they're not in active combat theatres).
