[Puzzle]Paintover 00001111.jpg -- More too it?

Well after contrast of the red blocks at the bottom of the picture, I got this. Clearly letters and not a solid block of colour. Doesn't fit the background too. Calculated the spaces between the blocks and there are 5.875 blank character spaces between the last block of the first three, and the first block of the middle two. and 3.25 spaces between the last of 2 and the first of three at the end.

Used paintshop, contrast at 90%.

EDIT: Changed thread title, no real definite puzzle still there, but there may be one -- AnthraX101

This picture has already served its purpose, and given us the SILVIA files.

I don't want to make things more complicated than they need to be, but we got 4 clues from that picture: triple stairs, proteus, silvia, and door. There is still the mirror and the boxes on the bottom that might have as well not been there, i.e. were not used as a clue.

The boxes on the bottom? You mean the little-boxes? I think we can make that clue #5. Also, I am not so sure that is a mirror in the door. I think it is simply a door with a window in it. Take a look at the track lighting and exit sign(s). The distances in the "reflection" do not really match up. Plus--if it is a mirror, who's taking the picture? Casper The Friendly Ghost?

AFAIK, the boxes at the bottom gave us the location of the Silvia files: little-boxes.net.

The mirror is the only thing about the picture which remains open to interpretation, and that could just be a cue from ceasar: "see me (in the mirror) at little boxes.net...)

[Edit] thats three posts today where someone else has said almost exactly what I was about to say, but beaten me to it!!! Grrrrr!!! Wink

Yeah, that escaped me.

As far as who's taking a picture - actually, it seems that whether it's a mirror or glass in the door, there should be some reflection on it. Maybe "whoever" was standing far enough on the left?

Well, there's not enough res in the picture, but if you zoom in you can sort of see a human outline to the left of the image: there's your cameraman.

Either way, we're starting to double up on info already in other threads... lets take this back to the source... as it were... Smile

i agree, that could be the camera man and/or that 1/2 of a person showing, could be the camera man, maybe too...

or, the camera man coulda just walked up to the mirror, turned around, snapped the shot with 1.5 people showing up in it and then just used layers to layer the "reflection" shot behind the wall with the mirror, and cut out the actual mirror reflection, allowing the 2nd layer (the "reflection picture snapped" to show through......

there could be a couple ways to nix the camera man....

i think the camera man is the 1/2 person that's visible to the FAR left side of the reflection, seeing as the picture is taken from the leftish side of the hallway the camera guy is in.

But the boxes aren't uniformly coloured boxes. Which is my point. They're purposely faded out. I see something like a DXT D(alpha) MX(Z or C). the first X and second X are obviously identical and different from the rest. I'm not sure about the other characters. just guessing those

same with me

but i think th two boxes in the middle contain the word "on" and the last 3 the word "one" but i'm sur that it's not "one on one", even if that would make sense because of the mirror

I realize that this picture did serve it's purpose already (in getting us to the silvia files) but I think there is clearly something interesting in those boxes, as the first poster points out.

What would be the motive of the creator of the image to hide text in those boxes if it was not a clue? (This isn't hypothetical - maybe there is a reason I wouldn't think of. Perhaps trying to confuse us with unnecessary clues that lead nowhere?) Of course, it could be a clue that leads us to places we've already gone (for example, maybe it means HTTP or something). But, I'd like to know for sure one way or the other.

That said, I have no ideas about how to solve the puzzle, if it is indeed a puzzle at all. Perhaps try the cryptogram stuff, the way that ALWAYS TO HAVE LESSONS TO LEARN was solved?

Has anyone looked at them as possible Morse Code.

... .. ... translated into Morse Code would be "SIS".

Don't know if that's alredy been thought of before or not.

Translated.

SOOUGU or SOGWD or SODU or SDS

Doesn't look much like anything to me.

Try this if you wanna try other combinations.
