[OFFTOPIC] Reloaded DVD Discussion

not helping your question, but About RELOADED:

watch the neo vs. 100smiths scene... and tell me if you think they enhanced the 'computerized neo' holding the pole... i think it looks a lot better than it did in the theatres but it could just be me.....

thoughts?

"plastic" neo

I agree that he looked kinda weird in the smith/neo fight (the big one). He looked almost like a Ken doll. It's like they didn't give him enough wrinkles. Still pretty freaking cool, though. Very Happy

So, I watched this two times last night, and I still can't figure out who the guy is at the end that survived the pre-emptive counter attack. Earlier in the show, he kills someone (I think) and then dials out of the Matrix. Is he a computer? Or just your average anti-Neo traitor? And, is he the one that tries to kill Neo with the knife as they walk to their spaceship?

The guy that survived at the end is bane. well its bane's body, but smith took over his body in the Matrix, then picked up the phone and got uploaded into banes brain, so its Smith-Bane.

He will be a major part of revolutions :/

It's Bane. Smith has assimilated him while he was in the Matrix. Actually, that's Smith in Bane's body. He tried to kill Neo with the knife, and blow the EMP that disabled all the ships that were in the pre-emptive attack, allowing the sentinels to kill all the humans inside. He was the only survivor (now can you guess why?).

On the Revolutions theatrical trailer, Neo can see through Bane, he can see Smith inside him. ("Look past the flesh, and see your enemy" -quote).

Still looks terrible to me, and also (I caught various glimpses at the cinema) if you run the fight in slow motion, you get to see lots of people that are quite clearly not Hugo Weaving... and these are not people in the background, but people coming up to get punched by Neo.

Worse scene in the whole movie.

Kill Neo? Maybe not ...

I don't think he wanted to kill Neo. I think he wanted to get his blood into Neo's body ... that's why he cut his own hand. He wanted to assimilate (as you put it) Neo as well.

If this doesn't make sense to you, may I suggest a great piece of fiction to read: Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash. An important concept in this book is a metavirus, a piece of self-replicating code (binary or DNA) with both digital and biological manifestations that can disrupt the regular function of digital or biological systems. Smith sounds like a metavirus to me Very Happy If he could make the leap from the digital world to Bane, perhaps he could make the leap from Bane to Neo ... and then there would be no one to stop him. Even worse, he might even gain control of Neo and all his power and abilities.

Jeez, if so, he could take over the real world too, as he is doing in the matrix. Cool... I never though this way...

I always guessed that he was SO fascinated with the humanity (he never felted it before) that he was cutting his own hand to FEEL it... the blood, the pain, the smell Smile ... this shows us how complex is Smith's personality.

if he wanted the real world all he has to do is clone himself over everyone in the matrix, then have the 'realworldsmithBANE' wake them all up...

voila

an army of one.

That is exactly what I thought when this has been discussed before. I saw Smith as a self-replicating virus in the Matrix, and then in the real world he was trying to infect Neo with his blood. Immediate parallels with Snow Crash, with its real world and metaverse virus versions.
