[FA][META] Frustration abated... thank you PM's.

Now, I preface this by saying I have not played a game like this in years and even then my experience was very limited.

Having said that, I am wondering if anyone else is getting completely frustrated by the speed this case is unfolding, not to mention the lack of anything for us to do.

It seems we get sound file after sound file... which is fine... but why is our head investigator (the PI James Pearson) hiding information in sound files instead of just telling us the information? The lastest sound file has someone typing and two people (man and woman) whispering under what is supposed to be the recording of an interview with someone. The only way for this to get there is for James to have done it... which is so illogical in makes me want to scream, lol.

Am I just being too critical and impatient, or do other people find these same issues frustrating?

And beyond that, anyone have another game I should play? I fear I am only a few weeks away from putting this one on the back burner except for Thurs and Sun (the only times we really get anything and then that only lasts us a few hours) and moving on to something else. PM me if you have a good tip. Smile

It would be good to get a bit more out of the chats and a little more interactivity. still a good game and i'm not going to give up on it, but what pony is saying seems to be a growing view amongst the players.

I actually dropped the project a while back due to some of the same reasons. I got tired of not getting information for 4-6 days, then finding out the information was useless and waiting another 4-6 days for something else. It almost seemed to me it was being made up as it went along. I agree there is absolutely nothing to figure out yourself, only wait until you are told what is important. As for being too critical or impatient, everyone has their own opinions about those types of things which was why I chose to quietly bow out.

I was going to post a similar topic, but you said it so much better. This is the first interactive ARG I have played (I tried Jamie Kane for starters) and it does seem to move VERY slowly. It is still fun, when we do get info to work with, but I just wish that there were more puzzles to solve...it seems like we are in a holding pattern with the current unsolved puzzles. If there is enough info there to solve them, I sure don't see it.

I was thinking about it last night as I got ready for bed. It is not so much that the PM's are failing to provide a good game. It is almost the opposite.

The world that has been created is SO interesting and there is SO much potential there that it frustrates me not to get more, not to be as immersed as I wish I could be.

Does that make sense?

I guess my expectations and demands are too high. I am sure this takes a LOT of work on their part and for that I thank them.

I just wish it was possible to be immersed. Smile

Yep, I was about to post and tell people that this game has picked up. Perhaps the PM's heard our complaints and have moved to give us more to do and to be more responsive to what we need in regards to stuff to do more than just on Thurs and Sun.

Whatever the reason, YAY! Smile

Since I am playing FA, I hardly checked the UF boards anymore, and thus only now saw this thread.
Concerning the pace of the game: although I liked the old slow going of things (since I have little time, it was adequate for me to play along and follow the developments), the fact that things have been going more quickly now is exciting.
The only comment I have is that the focus of the game seems to be getting lost. Many new personages have been introduced, of which only little is known and whose role is questionable at this time (e.g. Ann Webster, sologskips, etc.). Yet, still some of the old leads (like the Westminster Abby blue drawings) remain to be unsolved.
I'm getting the impression that the PM's are only one step ahead in planning the game, and are impressed by the success that they have had so far, which leads them to introducing many side lines. I doubt whether these recent personages were planned at the beginning. Also, the roles of James Pearson and Sarah are becoming less and less.
Nevertheless, it is good fun and I'm planning to stick to the end, i.e to find Araya.

i know... be careful what you wish for... lol!

now that things have picked up, maybe we should go back to some of the earlier items on our "to do list". I agree, I wish we could start to tie up some of those loose ends.

I remember the time when it was standard to have a day or two as update-day, and then the rest of time would be spent analyzing, arguing, debating and enjoying the game.

On the other hand, I havn't even looked at FA so perhaps I've misunderstood you...

My apologies.

It just seems adequate to sometimes step back and watch whatever game one plays from the outside, before commenting on it.
