[Halo 2] What happened on Coral?

One thing recently struck me.
In the "Conversations from the Universe" booklet, there is a letter from a UNSC archeologist that has unearthed something that probably cannot be anything else than a Forrunner structure on the planet Coral.
But we also know that Coral was glassed by the Covenant recently. And if they use the same mode of operation as before, did this structure fall into Covenant hands?
Thoughts?

On Reach, the Covvies left a certain patch unglassed. Speculation arose as to why they did that, and it all pointed to a Forerunner artifact on Reach. When Hiro informed Kamal that Coral was gone, Hiro suggested that maybe the Covvies had left certain parts of Coral untouched due to the possibility of a Forerunner artifact or three. While that isn't very specific, for the sake of argument, we'll say that the Covvies did not in fact glass the entire planet.

So, let's say that the note from "Conversations from the Universe" was written prior to the Covvies getting all Thin Kinkle on Coral; that would almost certainly be the case, as those planet-killing plasma cannons would spare nothing in their path. Thus, we have a timeline and the answer to your question: if the Covvies were after something on Coral, they most certainly attained it.

I've been wondering for some time whether the structure on Coral was the Forerunner ship that took Truth to Earth. There's no real evidence to support this, it's just something that got into my head recently.

Wasn't the artifact in ILB found floating in space near Coral?

Thats an interesting theory, but I think the Forerunner ship in High Charity has been there for quite some time, since it powered the whole station I believe.

Since they mention Coral in both ILB and the booklet, maybe they are planning on incorporating that storyline in the next Halo book? I could see that working out nicely!

Do we know that there's going to be another book?

Not for certain, like everything else, I read somewhere Frankie saying they were not set on making a novelization of Halo 2 and/or when the next fiction book is coming out.

It seemed from what I remember though that more books are PLANNED, but their time and content is still to be decided. Also they are unsure if they want to novelize Halo 2 like they did with "The Flood".

Regardless, I hope they come out soon.. I really enjoyed the books!
