I'm not so sure about that, coz in Reloaded, Smith has no probs piling on top of Neo for some good old fashioned beatdown... (vis a vis the playground scene)

Jump it back to software: Smith hates Neo. Smith is software, Neo is a piece of hardware (a human plugged into the Matrix). Smith is also, obviously a virus. Smith is self-replicating, reaching a critical mass.

What's going on? Smith.virus is about to mount a distributed denial of service attack on Neo.

Thats' my take - in computer terms - of what's going down. Theres a bagillion other variables, and converting back from computer terms to what really goes on is a different kettle of cheese, but I like that idea.

Sure. Very Happy Me thinks Smith represents the bad side of humanity. Remember his speech in M1? Humanity is a virus and all that - exactly what he is now. The speech showed all the negative aspects of humanity, it's all that he was able to see. Hugely ironic, yes, but also very symbolic...in Rev, we'll see the good and evil inherent in humanity battling it out while the world of illusions collapses all around...wow, that was a nice line. lol, I just had a "whoa" sort of moment...that's why I love these movies, they are so easily open to beautiful interpretations like that. And, in that climatic fight, which side will win? Well, neither, I don't think, that'd be impossible, wouldn't it?

Neither side can win, that is impossible. But what you must realize, is that neither side exists.....

pretty ticked i had to register. i better not get any spam mail from this.

Because both sides are one! Which is why they have that connection that Smith keeps mentioning...why Smith is obsessed with Neo...one cannot exist without the other because they are the same. Oh, I so can't wait for this movie...
Dude...that was my 2nd whoa moment of the day. All this studying for midterms must be paying off, heehee...

Azathoth666, how does the fact that Smith wanted to beat up Neo contradict this? Evil doesn't like good...ergo, (see, I can do it too! Wink)evil tries to beat up good. Very Happy (I sound like Wongmo...) What neither seem to have realized is that one literally cannot exist without the other, since one is defined by the other.

And the bouncing off/repulsion thing - oh, very very cool catch.
I don't mean any of this in a literal sense, btw, just symbolism...in case that wasn't clear. Smile

Sorry, I don't think I made myself really clear there... and maybe I am being a bit superficial about this angle... but...

I just meant the whole "stacks on" scene would contradict the inability of Smith and Neo to really do any damage to each other. In fact, Smith very nearly "infected" Neo, before Neo turned around and was like "So you can stick your hand in my chest huh? well watch what I can do with this steel bar!"...

I dunno... second time round I'm not really going for it myself anymore... Its just one of those I'll just have to wait another couple weeks things...

Absolutely Aza! the whole time I watched TMR my mind kept leaping to computer terms (lelele, the limited knowledge that I have) I kept thinking hmmm I wonder how this would translate into computer lingo.

Well, it wouldn't have been much of a fight if they just bounced off each other. Although that would have been hilarious... but the coolness factor of that fight would not have been quite as high as it was. In the Superbrawl (yes, how cool is that name?), they probably just punched each other really REALLY hard... and they certainly get into some "good old fashioned beatdowns" (heehee...) in that fight, or else it also would be severely lacking in coolness. That scene just has some serious symbolic meaning behind it, if we go with my theory (which I'm going with anyway, just because it's my theory, it makes total sense to me, and it also has such an incredibly high degree of coolness...don't argue with that. It's so cool that, if it were any cooler, it would be at absolute zero and its molecules would not be vibrating because they would have no kinetic energy...) Like I said, I didn't think that they literally couldn't damage each other or touch each other because they would repel... the literal implications would just be that they can't destroy each other. I guess we will see about that part... in 18 days. (!!!)

Labyrinth in Enter the Matrix?

I was watching the features on the DVD the other day, and I came accross a bit of propaganda for the Enter the Matrix Game, which I have only recently got my hands on, and may well be the single greatest video game in the history of mankind. Perhaps running second only to Pong.

But I digress: I make no representation to having even got past the fifth or sixth level ATM (be fair, I only get to play for about half an hour a day...) but I'm confident in this "Making Enter the Matrix" bit, they show some footage from the game, where the Keymaker gives Ghost and Niobe a key which will get them out of the Labyrinth Question Exclamation Question Exclamation Exclamation Question

Who here has finished the game? Is this a tie-in? Should I just not watch DVDs at 3 in the morning anymore?

Hmm...I've finished it. You should play, the story tie-ins are quite cool, especially when the game continues past the ending of Reloaded...anyway. Keymaker dude meets them in a hallway or something (it's been a while, I'm not sure if I remember everything correctly) and gives them the key to give to Neo...then the two vampire dudes (one of whom Persephone kills in the movie, those guys) come out of a door and grab the key and the Keymaker...because the key wasn't meant to get to him in that way or something. Anyway, your mission in that part is to, er, kill lots of bad guys...er, yeah, I definitely don't remember what the point of that whole sequence is, but there isn't really a Labyrinth, and the key is THE key, not one to get them out of anything, if I remember correctly. Which I probably don't. Very Happy

Sorry, Az, it's not.

If I remember right, it's just a key that'll get them out of the Merovingian's chateau.

BTW, I like the name. Smile I'm a big fan of Lovecraft myself.

In a way, I think I'm glad that there's no tie in between EtM and this... that's just too spooky. I probably only thought there was a labyrinth ref in there because I have this conspiracy on the brain all the time now...
