[ARG/Viral] KemSynth Enterprises

It's a viral campaign/ARG? promoting
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, a game being produced by Sony. This is apparent by the disclaimer at the bottom of the page: "This is a fictional company and a fictional website created for the purpose of promoting Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror for the PSP(TM) System." (so much for the curtain)

Basically, I got an email stating the first objectives (Apply for a position in KemSynth, Find out the name of anyone in the PR department of the company, and report it back to http://www.agencyhq.com/contact_us/ ). For more details see the attached image, my synopsis is quite basic.

Sony has shown it's interested in viral campaigns in the past (see: Giants in our Midst). Who knows how far the scope of this will go, but it's worth a shot.

EDIT: Added the email I was sent in an attachment... it was sent to everyone who is subscribed to the Playstation.com mailing list.

EDIT2: Added the link to the actual trailhead of the ARG, thanks to ISwear for finding it.

I editted the initial message with this information. I'm sure it's too late to get the trailhead email now, as I think Sony sends out the messages all at once. I don't believe it will hinder the gameplay in not being a mailing list subscriber, as the game prompts you to give your email address at KemSynth nonetheless.

I tried to sign up... and it gave me an error saying "Cannot find first email."

It's entered correctly, so I'm guessing that you have to be part of that list you're on to even play.

[edit] Tried it again this morning and it worked. Guess things were just messed up when I tried it last night.

If you send info to Agency HQ before finding out the info for yourself, then it will auto-respond with a statement explaining that "you got this info from a secondhand source..." and the like. This doesn't mean that you have to be on the subscriber list to play, but that you actually need to do the work yourself.

I can only assume that's what happened to you Sven, and I suggest to try again.

Glad to hear it worked.

Sent in my career survey.

Just got a response from the HR manager at Kemsynth. I sent it on to hq. I guess we'll see what happens.

Just got a response from IPCA. Someone from inside Kemsynth is supposed to contact me with some leads.

Edited because I hate double posting.

Subject : Re: Careers at KemSynth.com

Dear Job Seeker,

Thank you for your interest in a career at KemSynth Enterprises. Our Human Resources department has reviewed your entry and has matched you to a career path at KemSynth Botanical, in Iquitos, Peru. Please allow me to tell you about the exciting career opportunities currently available at this facility.

Our research team has embarked on an exciting new enterprise: organic compounds existing only in Amazon rainforests are allowing us to push the frontiers in chemical insecticides. Soon we will have the ability to create pest free crops in any climate, and even more exciting, in ways that are completely safe for the environment. Such as it is, we're hiring all skills for this new project: management, research, clerical, security, transport, and many more.

I've forwarded your information to our recruiting department at Iquitos, and someone should be contacting you shortly to discuss this opportunity in further detail.

Please read on for a testimonial from one of our current employees, and once again, I thank you for your interest in KemSynth Enterprises.

Sincerely,

Susan Johnson,
HR Manager KemSynth Botanicals

""I love working for KemSynth Botanicals. My first career was very, let's say, stressful. Long hours, lots of pressure, you know how that goes. It got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. I was in the big city, with the traffic and danger, and I just began to feel closed in. I saw an ad for KemSynth Botanicals, and I just imagined myself in this quaint little village in South America. No more hassles, no more traffic, just lots of sunshine where I could kick back and enjoy the sound of crickets in the evening as I sipped on my margarita. KemSynth is awesome. Great pay, exotic location, easy life. You wouldn't want to raise your kids here, but hey, I'm single and don't have to worry about that. So come on. Join KemSynth Botanicals. It'll be the ride of your life." – Addison Hargrove, KemSynth Botanicals Head of Security

Awww, why can't this be a real job, I'd love to go to Peru!

Argghhh!! Wish I checked my email a bit earlier. I wanted to post that.

Oh well. So do you think it would be helpful to email that lady or should we just wait like it says?

Good work, the agency will benefit from the information you submitted. We've been tracking suspicious communication between KemSynth Botanicals and KemSynth Petroleum, but we need more specific evidence to tie down what the two may be working on. Since your mission briefing, we've secured a contact from within KemSynth Botanicals. He will be contacting you shortly with some leads for your investigation. Please report any new evidence. Evidence needs to be exact and traceable, like shipping invoice numbers or employee numbers. I'll be expecting your next email.

Teresa Lipan
Deputy Chief of Operations
IPCA

There seems to be a problem with directly going to www.agencyhq.com, however, going straight to http://www.agencyhq.com/contact_us/, it does work.

Odd, but that looks like the issue. The response you give after the email is automated, I got it only seconds after my message.

Peru eh? Hmmm...

EDIT: Also, make sure you got the email from KenSynth before attempting to email HQ. Otherwise it will just come up with the "secondhand information", like before.

I can't get www.agencyhq.com to load either, but each time I've tried to send in a recon report through www.agencyhq.com/contact_us/ it hasn't worked. I get an error, but it isn't that its secondhand info or anything else, just looks like it isn't working.

I'll try to email the address they have on the contact page and see if that works.

Edit: Sent it via my gmail account to the account Aliendial got a response from and it worked. But when I use the contact_us page, I keep getting runtime errors.
