Hi, was out shopping today and noticed my local "Travelling Man" was selling perplex city cards...

Thats the Travelling Man, Corn Exchange, Leeds...

Can't help feeling this will hit my pocked hard once wave 3 cards are out!

yep, dunno if its been mentioned before but the manchester TM stocks cards, and starter packs as well, or maybe just the one on display, i dunno, i can't afford it so i haven't asked yet. one of the guys there asked if i'd got addicted to the cards yet, i told him i'd been addicted to the game for over a year now but they were already taking all my spare cash with my comics :)

so yeah, back to the topic at hand, i'd imagine the entire TM chain (cant see a bag atm to remember where the other shops are) are stocking them? forbidden planet (either u.k or international splinter) got in on the action yet? my FPI in manchester doesn't seem to stock them yet. soon it shall be wh smiths, next borders, then the world! ;)

rach =)

Forbidden Planet in Bristol are selling them...bought 3 packs and only needed one card, so i won't be going there again! Laughing

I'm guessing this shop is part of the forbidden planet chain?

I don't think there's anywhere in Plymouth that stock them, which is a bitch seeing as i live there!

They're also ok with you reserving boxes of wave 3 cards (the Leeds one is anyway). I've always liked Travelling Man for than FPI, seemed a lot friendlier.

The forbidden planet in Newcastle sells them as well, shame nowhere in bath, dawlish or exeter sells them (where I go to uni and places near where I live).

Just a question relating to this point...

If ordering a box of cards, does the shop charge you 36 x £2.50 = £90, or do they charge you the price that they purchase them from, from the wholesaler (or Mind Candy)? Maybe with a little extra thrown on top, an admin fee, so to speak?

There's two different Forbidden Planet chains, it's very confusing but they both have different websites (and bags)

For instance the one in Manchester is part of the Forbidden Planet International chain, which also has shops in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Middlesborough, Sheffield, Cardiff, Nottingham, Leeds, Hanley, Leicester, Derby, Wolverhampton and New York. They also have associate shops called Worlds Apart and Nostalgia & Comics in Liverpool and Birmingham respectively.

otoh, the one in London (which is ace) is part of the Forbidden Planet UK chain, which also has shops in Bristol, Cambridge, Coventry, Croydon, Dartford, Newcastle, Southampton. The FP shops in Birmingham and Liverpool belong to this chain.

I have no idea why, and it's silly really because the international one has the .co.uk domain and the uk one has the .com domain, but nevermind.

Either way, if you are in Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Newcastle, Nottingham or York, go to Travelling Man instead cos they are nicer. Unless you are in Nottingham or London and just want comics instead of cards in which case go to Page 45 or Orbital Comics respectively.

rach =) (expects discounts on her comics from all those places now!)

Not in Plymouth but in cornwall my Local Shop Mad For Miniatures sells individual packs for £2, single cards as well as they play and sell all there spares. Was a really good way to get into the game and they are really friendly

They're charging £79.99 which is probably a bit more than they get it for but fair enough, they've got to make a bit of money. It's the same price as a box on Firebox and you don't have topay postage. And they phone you.

I bought my first cards yesterday, found them at Travelling Man in Nottingham:

16 Angel Row
Nottingham
NG1 6HL

They are upstairs in the GameStation shop.

Not strictly speaking a new stockist but if any UK players out there are collecting ipoints (Internet shopping reward scheme thingy) then they are now offering Perplex City cards as one of their rewards. 185 points = 4 packs of Perplex City cards, presumably from Firebox given that they're an ipoints partner.
