Puppetmaster Mentor Program

In light of the recent difficulties that grassroots games have seen, I'm proposing a mentor program. Many veteran PMs are busy with their own projects at the moment but might have a bit of spare time to look something over and say, "This will/will not work because..."

So I'll throw my name in the ring. If you're a new puppetmaster and about to launch the next big thing, I'll be happy to take a quick glance and tell you, in my opinion, whether I think you might be running into problems down the road or the forecast calls for smooth sailing.

Either PM me on here or send an email to meSPLATaddlepated.net.

Anyone else willing to be a mentor?

Not being a Puppet Master, I do not call myself a mentor. But I have been around for a while and I have a pretty good idea about what might and might not work. I've got a background in game design, literature, and project management, which come together very well when working on an ARG.

I would be more than happy to offer guidance to any project at any stage of development.

Furthermore, I will offer free hosting to anyone who takes advantage of this program by contacting me, addie, or any other mentors I trust who offer their services (paging imbri). You'll get up to 100 domains, 1 GB of data, and 100GB of monthly transfer, which can also be easily upgraded if required.

In addition to advice on game structure, design, and planning, I can also offer basic advice (due to time limitations) on technical issues and specific game elements (web design, puzzles, content, etc.).

So in summary...

If you are:
- A single PM who's never done this before
- A huge PM team with very skilled people

Working on:
- A little puzzle trail
- A simple gAIM with some interaction
- The biggest ARG EVAR

Whether it is:
- An idea you just thought about 5 minutes ago
- A full game you're ready to launch

You will get:
- Complete confidentiality
- A high level analysis of your game
- Advice on any specific element of the game
- Limited technical support
- 100 websites with 1GB disk space at 100GB transfer per month.
- Your own access to the hosting (control panel, scripting, databases, e-mails, the works)

All for:
- FREE

Smile

* Offer valid for one year starting today (and possibly after that depending on time). PM me for details.

Well, the only game I was a main PM for was Orbital Colony, but if anyone wants to ask me questions, I will happily give my input.

By the way, in no way did I mean to imply that I'm the most experienced, educated, and/or capable puppetmaster in the world! I've just been lucky enough to have a few forays behind the curtain and have hopefully picked up a little insight as to what works and what might not. Smile

Count me in. Mentoring is a big thing with me -- I have done it a LOT on the indie film side and would be willing to do it with ARGs.
