I've done an extensive list of all 8 letters or less Herakles-related words I could find (plus a few other random things) and put them all through SteveC's website (including Kerberos -sorry, lownote, it doesn't work). The only results marked promising are as follows:

'alpheus', 'Leo' and 'Pallas' all look vaguely like a SysEx File.
'ECHIDNA', 'BALGEBRA', 'Eromenos', 'evander' and 'Hippolyt' all look vaguely like DBase 3 data files with memos.
'Christie' and 'perseus' both look vaguely like shell archive or script for antique kernal text.
'DIOSCURI' looks vaguely like Dyalog APL version 209.193.
'Mimas' looks vaguely like an Assembler source.
'pelorus' and 'thespius' both look vaguely like 8086 relocatable (Microsoft).
'phrixus' looks vaguely like Sendmail frozen configuration - version ų*œéÄ@U«k×äAYs£—ō->|żŻBxŽi¢5.

My computer literacy is very basic so if anyone more knowledgeable than me thinks that any of these might be promising and would like to check them out then I would be very grateful. (I typed in each word as it is so any blank spaces would be on the end of the shorter words.)

"Very basic" - Ha! - that's funny! And clearly nonsense. Nice work.

Hi folks,

presumably the 13th labour wooden puzzle will have a bar code. I know they tend to be 13 characters only, but since bar codes appear elsewhere it might be worth trying it as the hex code.

Barcodes for individual items have an 8-digit barcode (EAN-8 ), depending on how small they are. Any ideas how we can find out?

another possibility for a "13th labour"?

http://www.math.tamu.edu/~boas/courses/math696/Maple-Hercules.html

Typed in "horn" and "gabriel", gabriel came up with nothing but got this for horn:

The decoded file for key 'Horn' vaguely looks like a 8086 relocatable (Microsoft). Unless this is text, or some graphic or sound file with a very short header, it's probably a red herring, but I thoguht it worth mentioning so you can do your own research (or ask for someone on the boards to do so). Thanks.

could this be anything or am i just again, going off on a complete tangent?
(I apologize once again for my complete lack of intelligence in this area lol)

Right, I followed up my earlier idea about the bar code for the wooden puzzle version of 13th Labour, and...

...it doesn't have one. Dead end city. Bummer, dude.

Program for Windows based comp?

I am running a windows based computer and have no access to another other OS, any decoding programs that are windows based?

This may have been posted somewhere in the 28 pages, but has anyone tried 'FIVECOWS' as the key?

May I suggest next time that there's only one way to find out...

BTW the answer is yes. More than once.

As you may have surmised Layfields, yes, that has been raised previously. On a number of occasions. Repeatedly. Unnecessarily.

Please, take the time to read the small box in the top left of the page titled "Welcome!". It contains much good advice. Especially the part about "SEARCH". 'Tis a small button in the top right of the page. It was once explained, by someone with far more patience than I, as being a case of politeness - by spending a few moments to see if something has already been raised, you can save every other reader of the forums a similar amount of wasted time and effort, that could be better spent elsewhere...saving the rainforests...or...hugging trees...or...just not READING THE SAME DAMN POSTS AND SUGGESTIONS EVERY SINGLE DAY ENDLESSLY ALL THE TIME SAME POSTS SAME SUGGESTIONS REPEATED AD NAUSEUM UNTIL BRAIN HURTY MELTINESS DRIBBLE BIBBLE FNURGHLE GAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

*explodes*

Juxta will be taking an extended leave of absence to..."recuperate", at St.Heffalump's Hospital for the Terminally Short of Marbles. He did *try* with this one. Really. Doctor's think he'll make a full recovery. Just...don't anyone mention FIVECOWS to him. Really.
