[Very tentative] ILB/Melissa Message? (Physical world) Please understand how gingerly I offer up the following information: I have no expectation, nor, in fact, a desire for ILB2. I've read up on the lamentable half-assed hoax attempts and the even more
lamentable
well-meaning but naive (duly chastised. <nods@krystyn>) players who have fallen for then.
But I *do* love a good mystery, and I was mystified by the text that was chalked onto the walls of a labyrinthine building on the UC Davis (California) campus.
Found at 2 sites in ground floor courtyards of the Social Sciences
building, messages scrawled in white chalk directly onto the walls. A
helpful Sociology professor put the writing at 2-3 weeks old, not more
than 4. (Within the "=="'s are direct quotes, formatting as close as possible. Pictures upon request.)

SITE 2
BEEKEPERS

-MELISSSSSSSSA
=====End Site 2=====================
(Mispellings "BEEKEPERS" and "MELISSSSSSSSA" at Site 2 are intentional, [sic], etc.)
As of posting (March 30th) none of the search strings "MELISSA" "MELISSSSSSSS" or "7HQ7" returned any hits from the forums.
I just report the news. No way in heck and I gonna spec at this point.

Well, sounds interesting at the very least, more so than other ILB 'possibilities' even if it was just a bored person with chalk.
And yes, we want PICS. NAO.

Not to be rude or anything, but so far I don't think anyone's 'fallen for' anything in regards to an 'ILB2 hoax'. The so-called ILB2 running now is being played on its own merits, not those of its supposed predecessor, as far as I can see.
Anyway, on-topic re: the messages: Don't know if it's anything (maybe just a hoax, maybe a fellow Beekeeper trying to send a shoutout, I don't know), but if it is something, nice find.

Pictures Hey everyone. While I'm not a player of the game, I am the person who originally alerted Pants to the information and am posting pictures. I found the information on March 30 and took the pictures on March 31st. In that time, someone added their own bit of information under the Site 2 message. That would be the "To Melissa from a beekeeper" message. Anyways, without further ado, pictures.
If anyone is confused by the presence of the sprials, they were a part of the Site 1 message and so I saw fit to include them. However, I did not get a picture including the whole of Site 1 as it is on a massive wall and the sprials would have not shown up properly.

Huh. This is ... interesting. The first 'site' probably has some sort of key to the gibberish in the second site, but... It's got no clues as to what it lines up to.

greek letters There appears to be some faded and/or partially rubbed off Greek letters in a few of the pics, notably, next to the spirals. They're hard to make out and don't seem to form whole words/phrases (according to my Greek-speaking spouse). I'm on my way out the door...I'll post what I was able to pick out later today (if someone hasn't beaten me to it).
WiredClover, would it be possible/feasible for you to print out a copy the Greek Alphabet (for example, here ), and go back and try to transcribe it the best you can? You would be my bestest friend.

Interesting. VERY interesting.
I'd wager that whatever the phrase at the second site is, it ends in either .html or .info (most likely .html).

Looking at the pictures, I noticed that one of the swirls had the thing next to it - "I am // a wal" and looking at the picture, the first thing that comes to mind is "I am the walrus," the Beatles song. Or something along those lines. If my friend is right, then that could be significant because the song was written to thwart a professor who was trying to prove that all the Beatles songs had hidden meaning. So it could be saying "I am a walrus" meaning that it means nothing. How close was it to the rest of the scribbles on the wall?

Actually, the phrase is "I am a wall" and it's fairly close to the scribbling. I'll upload more pictures tonight.

Attached are pictures wih the greek letters highlighted. See, I'm not crazy. Obsessed maybe, but not crazy.
As best I can figure:
Quote:
ο Βός ἐστί γ?λε τος
o Bos esti g?le tos
There may or may not be a space between the last two "words".
