You should be getting a more detailed description of the problem following on from the basic error message - you might need to scroll down a bit to see it. If not, try running it from a command prompt so the command window doesn't disappear as soon as the error occurs.

Assuming you're on Windows 2000 or XP, and forgive me if you know this stuff already...

Go Start->Run, then type "cmd" and press enter.

You should get a command window. Assuming the client has unzipped to the standard location, type "c:" then press enter. If the command prompt doesn't say "c:\" then type "cd \" (I think) then enter.Type "cd 13Labour" then enter. Then just type "TestClient.exe" and enter, and the client should start. When it quits, assuming it errors again, you should see a more detailed report on what the problem is. If you could post the error text that will probably help in figuring out what's wrong.

I had a problem because I had invalid characters in my name when I entered it (not sure what invalid characters though) try a single word name.

i get the previously posted message, underneath i get

"Process id=0x8d4 (2260), Thread ide=0x3a4 (932).
Click OK to terminate the application
Click CANCEL to debug the application"

debugging brings up a new pop up window saying the Registered JIT debugger is not available.

any help?

Lets Rock!!!

The testing has gone well over the last week or so, and the current beta test client runs pretty smoothly on all PC/Windows machines and a good number of Linux/Mac clients. Within a few hours we will have surpassed 10000 work units processed, and we currently have 134 clients registered of which over half have been active in the last 24 hours, and over 40 are active as we speak.

So it is time to go live!! In fact we have been live in database terms for some days now!!

The Production Client is therefore now available. For a short time it will be up at:

http://www.e-wire.net.au/~eb_oakla/pxc/13labour_1_0.zip New Install
http://www.e-wire.net.au/~eb_oakla/pxc/13labour_beta_1_0.zip Upgrade

but this and future releases will be available from

http://www.13thlabour.tk

and other places as I sort them out.

The Web Server environment is still under review, but at the moment the client is not being unduly disadvantaged by the congestion that sometimes occurs. This will of course be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Development has not stopped, I am currently working on getting all Mac/Linux machines up and able, and other changes to improve efficiency both of client and web server.

Note: Current Test Clients (pre PATCH005) will be disabled at the weekend, so you will need to update these clients soon.

Alrighty...

I tried to run the 'upgrade', and got all sorts of errors, mainly involving a missing JIT debugger. So I just d/l the 'new install', and it works fine: I'm processing a work unit every 15 minutes on my 2.8 Ghz SP2 XP box, with about 60% processor usage at the standard throttle setting.
Has someone posted to the General Updates page that we're live now?

Thanks,

Loric

site is updated and client is ready to download :)

The client is now live and ready to use so without further ado lets go guys Smile

download the client from the site 13th Labour

To add to the incentive of the shiney points you will get a prize has been put together for the lucky individual that identifies the key. These items are located on the site (well they will be but so far we have:

Terra Incognita
We Be Rational Pirates poster
A selection of offered cards (#174 #178 #181 #182 #184 #187 #210 #212)
Offers of several new packs

And an email from MC stating they will - well I will let you read it Wink

Quote:
Hi GuiN,

Mind Candy would be happy to give you a few bits to add to the prize pool! How does a poster, t-shirt and starter pack sound? I'll also send down a card signed by the artist who designed the Whipsmart Ice site. And maybe I'll throw in a few packs of Wave 3 cards too Wink

Could you let me know your address and I'll get it all sent over to you?

Thanks for instigating this - let's hope it drives lots of people to try and crack the code!

Best regards,

Fiona

Now let me here you say thats NOT worth the effort Smile
