As I said before Im new to this so be gentle....

Ok, the black/uv light map we were given in "lockdown" and the magazine scan from Entertainment Weekly that were posted has been suggested as a big clue. Well from looking at the map we can see a reference to a Valenzetti. From Lost-media.com's home page you can find reference to someones attempt at finding anything on Valenzetti. I post below for reference

'Lost': Map madness continues

Obsessives, stretch your nerd muscles (located mostly in the neck and eyeballs): It's time for some Lost detective work.

You'll be happy to know we're publishing That Crazy Map from the Hatch blast door in this week's issue -- and also right here on the site.

(Let's pretend, for a second, that it hasn't already spread all over the Internet.)

Now I'm no Doc Jensen (though I strongly recommend you check out his insanely rational theories), but a friend has strongly encouraged me to follow this lead: Valenzetti. You'll see the name on the lower left hand corner of the map, along with the words, "...relevance to Valenzetti-related research activity." My friend Googled "Valenzetti" and discovered a Googlewhack, that oh-so-rare search term that brings up only one result, in this case a log of recently registered domain names, including:

enzovalenzetti.com
thevalenzettiequation.com
valenzetti.com
valenzettiequation.com

All were registered last Sunday, by a shadowy entity called "Domain Discreet," which I suspect is a broker for companies buying sites on the sly for one reason or another.

So... who is Enzo Valenzetti?

Ok, so tonight I googled Valenzetti and found this
http://news.antville.org/

On that site is the following quote

I met him at the bookshop last night. "It's a bad plan that can't be changed," he said.

"at the bookshop" is a hyperlink to this site

http://madscience.antville.org/

Which has on the right side a "new links" list

the domains were registered before the show aired. We should keep our eye on them.

the post you mention was posted after the show was aired, and looking at the linkbacks, it's other lost forums talking about it...

however the utopian societies links on the left Walt Disneys and this italian example
are interesting, and certainly chimes in with the hatches and the aims of the hanso foundation.

Hmmm, seems to be playing out a bit on this site
http://news.antville.org/stories/1363105/

So is this nothing, is this something with a faker trying to steal some thunder,
http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/
or is it something fake?

I'm going to jump on the "hoax" bandwagon {i'm all alone???} if nothing else because of the google ads. I doubt an official ABC site would have google ads.... but time will tell.

I'm going to have to vote fake also.
My reason: if you follow the link Our Our Famous Ancestor you are lead to a page about one MILO Giacomo RAMBALDI. Yes the very same Rambaldi used in the TV show Alias. Thus very unlikely to be part of the Lost mythos.

i actually went ahead and listened to the most recent pod cast, and they announce that yes, that movie file of the dharma thing that went around is fake fake fake. but that they "actually encourage fans to do stuff like that".

Thanks for that info Pixiestix! Have read much speculation on it, is good to know. It was very well done I thought, although alot of people were bashing it.

An interesting site that mentions both "Magna Carta," "Macna Carta" and the philospoher Rousseau, as well as Lost-related themes. I don't think it's related to the show... but I think that this is the kind of stuff the developers are using as their source material.

Damon and Carlton mentioned in the March 28th podcast that there will be websites coming up in May for an "internet experience" I believe is an ARG.

I've actually done quite a bit of web research already and found several websites (again, that I do not believe are game-related) with information that the show's mythology will be building on. The valenzetti websites have a link to Amazon for Fantastic Voyage by Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman. This is the kind of material, along with Ray Kurzweil's newer book, The Singularity is Near, that I believe have been instrumental in the creation of the Lost mythology and Dharma experiments.

I also received an email in response to a post I made on cloudmakers about me being one of the original cloudmakers that helped take down The Beast. When I googled the email senders name, I discovered a website that had to do with mining and the military in Australia. Hmmm. Again, nothing I believe is game-related yet, but the synchronicities out there are becoming quite odd.

This has already been mentioned in this thread {i believe in the last 2 pages even}.

Given that they encourage fan related "red herrings" as it seems, it is going to be interesting to see what is in-game and what is fan-based. I think that may cause more harm than good in relation to an actual ARG - however, it may not be an ARG, it may just be a further immersion quality and alternate reality without it being a game. we will have to wait and see.

There are two rooms set up on IRC where Lost is discussed {for those unaware} #ctu {a spoiler free room, nothing from previews, podcasts, etc...} and #bigspaceship1 {a room set up for those of us who choose to spec and spoil and otherwise engage in convo that could be annoying to hardcore non-spoiler types without interfering with their enjoyment of the show}.

I am under the impression discussion of the game should go into #bigspaceship1 since there is spec and spoiler info involved. hope to see y'all there tonight!

If there is an ARG that is building on mythology that has already been out there for almost 2 years (as opposed to mythology for an as-yet unreleased film as was the case with A.I.) I think we are going to see things like:

1) dealing with a lot of fakes and pretenders coming up in associated searches
2) the Puppet Masters intending the use of linked unrelated sites simply for their inclusion with related mythology and history, while otherwise being not officially "in-game"
3) the inclusion of ads like the ones seen in the valenzetti sites. Wouldn't it make sense in the real world the game is mimicking, for example, if you were going to a website that had to do with cereal, for example, that you would see links to other, non-game related RL cereal sites or advertisements for other public sites? It would then be a part of the gaming experience to discern where the official game trail faded into the RW, and some of the RW information might even prove pertinent in puzzle-solving the ARG.

I beg to differ, and I'll try to make my meta posts on this subject infrequent {or at the very least, if it continues i'll actually move them to the meta section}...

A company is doing an ARG. Why would they advertise for other competing companies? Perhaps I am wrong on this, but I still really feel that the valenzetti sites are fakes and that the "google ads" {since they are semi-unreliable, and could be advertising anything from "gold farmers" to "viagra" , and that includes competing sites and the indivual site owners cannot filter them}. I doubt ABC would do such a thing.

I do see a number of fan sites out there already. The fact that they are encouraged does not mean they are nessacerily going to be included in any fashion {it does not rule it out, however again, i doubt ABC would do such a thing considering the legal ramifications of a fan based story line}.

Lost is at the moment owned by ABC, and i think that is a huge thing to keep in mind when ruling out the official from the fake websites. "wwabcd" LOL.

WEBSITE: http://www.widmorelaboratories.com/

As noted on cubit.net, Widmore yet again appeared in a recent episode - "This is the third reference to WIDMORE on the show: 1) The WIDMORE CONSTRUCTION sign in Fire+Water (which you can't easily read, but the producers have told us that is what the London skyline sign says) 2) Sun's pregnancy test 3) Henry Gale's balloon"

So I went ahead and googled it. Perhaps it is too obvious, but maybe not - it is the first thing that comes up on a google search. The site seems to be broken in many ways.... Possibly a fan site{don't know how to do a whois}
