"its not worth the effort" Wink lol

Nope seriously, I have got it running on both my pc's and convinced my family to get it running on theirs too so hopefully the more running it will be cracked quicker! The prizes mentioned by Guin there def made me want to have this client running as much as possible. (shame I'm working more away from home now...)

This is great!
I just installed this on all of my home, work, and a few powerful didicated linux web servers. Total CPU power tops 30 GigHz. I hope my contrubion helps. The didiceted servers will be running this constantly unless someone access a php page over 30 KB in size or the server is updating system critical software or cPanel. all other PCs will be running it as long as i can keep them running with out crashing. Hello!

I dropped out of working on PXC for the past 9 months or so because i'm on my last year in college, but I thought that now that I'm graduating I should jump back in. and what better way to get involved than to do something that doesn't require any actual work on my part! Smile

so I've installed the .net 1.1 framework and the client, but its giving me "congestion encountered adding client, waiting for retry." I assume there's nothing I can do about this on my end, so I'm just going to let it sit and keep retrying. just in case there's something you guys can do about it, however, I thought you'd want to know.

cheers to the coders who worked hard on getting this put together. despite all the disparate theories on how to solve the card, I feel that MC offering to send a prize along to the lucky cracker sends a pretty strong message that we're on the right track.

-edit-
scratch that, I'm in. Smile

I've mentionned to a couple of people in IRC that this seems to be limited to certain clients (I have 20+ running here without this issue being significant).

My guess is that the timeouts I have put on the Web Service calls are a bit stringent. I am working on appropriately relaxed values.

Leave it going, as it should connect eventually Smile.

Thanks for your contribution

The current version of the client does not seem to run on OS X. I know that chimera is working on this though.

I've upgraded the Web Server (about 12 hours ago now), and this seems to have done wonders for the congestion issue.

I'm into Unit Testing on a multi work unit client (due to hit you guys hopefully Tuesday).

Priority after that is getting the currently non compliant Macs working.

Just as a reminder, a number of you are not using the production version.
This is available from:

http://www.e-wire.net.au/~eb_oakla/pxc/13labour_1_0.zip

Note to Mac/Linux users this does NOT require the pathfree.zip patch.

I will be disabling earlier versions of the test client sooner rather than later serverside - so you need to get cracking on the upgrades Smile.

Alright I am really new to this and am probably comepletely wrong, but I noticed something on the Cognivia website. It says that they are looking for employment in the position of Grid Administrator, and don't you think that if someone got access of this grid the process would go a lot quicker?

Welcome NinjaPirate... nice name too.

Don't forget TIAG, and Cognivia is really just a website, so there is no real world grid for us to exploit for use in this brute force effort.

But TIAG, so maybe the game world has a grid for us to exploit.

From an in game view: The game has a grid, the players input the code, the grid works it out, the players get an answer.

From a meta view: The game has a 'grid', the players hand the code (in effect) to the PMs, the PMs already have the answer, the PM's (acting as the 'grid') give players the answer.

Point is; The PM's control the puzzles and their answers, the PMs control the websites. It's our responsibility to investigate it, it's the PM's choice where they take it.

All up, A nice piece of lateral thinking by NinjaPirate

Thanks for the support colin. Smile

Also I just saw you guys use the phrase "TIAG" twice, but I haven't the faintest idea of what it means. Remeber, I am comepletely new to this.

I think I'll try emailing one of the Cognivia addresses to ask who I should talk to for a job application.

EDIT: I just emailed productsATcogniviaDOTcom and mediaATcogniviaDOTcom. The products address sent an auto-response which made it felt that they couldn't help, and the media address said that they will reply as soon as they can. I will either update this post or make a new one when I recieve their email.
