[PUZZLE] #232 Silver - Water Music

I received two of these today. Will post the picture tomorrow when I can get to my scanner. It shows 12 glasses. 4 seem to have different levels of blackcurrant juice, 4 have orange and 4 have plain water. This looks most perplexing!

The 6th was the official release date, but many shops had them already, merely waiting till the official date to sell them. And of course, a few unscrupulous retailers sold before the release date...

Without seeing the card, but considering the title, my thoughts would be:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We may need to thnik about the musical notes that are represented by the 12 glasses (I assume there is some order to them). This will be dependant on the liquid level and the viscosity of the liquid, where water < blackcurrant < orange?) and perhaps the size/shape of the glass, if they are indeed different.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
you mean density, right?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yes, density is probably a more appropriate term, sorry. Although, after looking at the card picture, it doesn't appear like there is much difference in the properties of the liquids, apart from their colour. I would work from the simple point of taking each of the liquids as having equal density initially, and work from there

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think trying to 'play' them is probably the right way to go. From the title, I think we might be looking for something by Handel.

It's going to be hard to get heights of liquid because the view on the card is a weird diagonal view. Some of them will look higher that they are.

I think ths card could be evil

Assuming all the glasses are the same, measure the height of a glass and then the height of the liquid. Divide one by the other, and you'll have a ratio that should remove most of the perspective.

It also seems that there is exactly one of each colour drink in each row. I think that maybe decoding the notes will not be enough but they will be scrambled afterwards.

I suppose there's no sense in cluttering up the forum with too many ideas before we even get the notes, but maybe the color represents the number of times the note is played?

Newbie, new thoughts, and addicted as can be...

Well I'm already addicted to this game and I had a few thoughts on this card I just wanted to share. While the Handel reference was nice I'm not sure that's the answer his work only had about

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3 notes (F, D, G)

looking at instuments it could be something like a 12 water glass xylaphone (sp?) and the more full the glass is with water the deeper the note, I think there might be 4-5 different notes, but I havent done the math to measure out the depths of the liquid yet. If anyone else wants to and dosent know how

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
measure the shadows of the glasses useing all sorts of fun math to get a back asmuth(sp?) of where the light is, then you can get the appromixet hight of the glasses, measure the liquid in the glasses to get ratio's and then apply the ratio's to each glass

oh, and unless the liquid is something really heavy or really light (density) it wont change the notes, the colors are there for something else I think
