... and my initial thoughts are that the picture is of
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Pangaea, the single super continent formed before the current continents drifted into their present positions.
The four places look to me roughly to be
(the top one is the most difficult) Northern Russia somewhere - Archangelsk?
Marrakech or thereabouts
Quito, possibly
Perth, Australia
Do they appear on the same present-day great circle? If so, does that help?
End of thoughts

Two things please:
1) the puzzle author?
2) the playing card symbol printed on the card?

That is familiar - I think
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think it is earlier than Pangea - the shape rings a bell with me.
A have Earth - An Unauthorised History (Richard Fortey) at home - I'll check there but he has a whole heap of stuff on prior continental arrangements

From what I can see on the card, the locations might possibly match up with:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Arctic Circle
Tropic of Cancer
Equator
Tropic of Capricorn
The soint on South America is right on the equator, the point on Africa seems to lie right around the Tropic of Cancer, the one on Australia might lie on the Tropic of Capricorn, and if the large mass is Asia/Europe its point could lie on the Arctic Circle.

slightly better scans i've logged in with this card, and can confirm that they want ONE answer - not four different ones.
attached are slightly clearer scans of the card...
(at the risk of a trouting - what's the max resolution we're allowed to use?)

Scott: this is interesting. There does not appear to be any signature of an author on the card, but more importantly there is no card symbol or large letter imprint (that I can see) despite 233 being a prime number!
thalamus: you will see at the sticky at the top of the meta cards forum that there is a limit of 300x450 pixels.

I found this site with a small, but useful animation of how Pangea changes to modern day.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think the one on the right is in Australia.
Bottom left seems to be south america.
Middle one is africa.
The top one is dodgy, as it seems to be on a place which splits, but i think its scandenavia

as its called Earths Destiny do you think it could be where the countries will end up in the future rather than the past?

possibly the big joker? This could very well be the big joker. Notice there is a star (eventhough it is a compass star) on the card.

At least two of those locations are associated with Diamonds I think - the Kimberley one and the West African one.

The map seems to be early Jurassic Earth ca. 200 million years ago.
The next pangaea (pangaea ultima ) is forecast for about 250 million years from now, at which point none of those points will converge.
The PALEOMAP Project and Paleogeographic Atlas Project are both good resources if you want to study older maps.
I would venture the Northern most point is in Alaska.
